I was wondering what people thought about getting trip insurance for trip to WDW? We are going at the end of sept- thru oct. 7th, 6 total in family and not sure if we should buy the insurance if it is worth it? Any help would be great ! Thanks!
I'll always be FOR trip insurance. I'm sure some people think its a waste of money, but it saved our vacation when I went.
I went during 2004 when Orlando was hit by two big hurricanes in a matter of days (it seemed). So once we were stranded in North Carolina because the orlando airport was close, we called up orbitz and they were able to extend the trip by one day. Then the orlando airport was still closed, so again they extended the trip by one day.
Thats just my experience. From now on I'll always get insurance.
If we don't go during hurrican season and we don't buy a package, we don't buy trip insurance. This year we are going during hurrican season and we bought a package so we bought the insurance. we used the link from mousesavers for insuremytrip and it wasn't as expensive as it was through disney.
One year I had a serious case of poison ivy. There is no way that I could have done the July Florida sun & heat. I was grateful that I had trip insurance.
I'm definitely buying trip insurance for my trip. My theory is, better to be safe than sorry.
I would hate to have something come up unexpectedly & waste all the time and money that gets put into a Disney trip.
Just my opinion.
I have never bought trip insurance because we usually do a room only ressie and we would only be out one night's stay. This year we are doing a package and I will buy the insurance. There are too many things that could happen and I don't want to worry about losing $4700!
disney has changed its tropical weather policy. so if the only reason you want it, is for a hurricane you may not need it.
We are going in sept. and didn't buy it because we've been the last 3 Sept. and two years ago was when they had the hurricanes....
The airlines let us change our flights (no charge) and Disney allowed us to make changes (no charge).
Disneys travel insurance runs higher than other competitors. Access America is a great company to purchase through. They have a family plan where you only pay for the adults.
..say that your trip is $4,000 and its for a family of 4. That would be $1000pp in coverage and you only pay for the adults children up to age 17 is free.
adult ages:18-30 $32pp ages 31-59 $41pp
compared to $60+ with disney. Here is the info if anyone wants it www.accessamerica.com
