Buy tickets now or keep awaiting new AP sales

DVC Members always think they should be an exception for everything.

You got your deal when you bought in. You got a better price on near deluxe accommodations.
You paid upfront so therefor figured you somehow gave Disney more money.

I’m always miffed why Members think they are entitled to anything.
It’s called expectations. Annual passes have been a thing since 1982. Disney antagonizes new customers and pass holders (dvc or not) that didn’t renew during Covid. Disney will not benefit from dvc members going down the road to Universal.

Reminds me of a saying around the recovery tables: “Expectations are resentments in waiting.”
Unfortunately that’s exactly what Disney is creating, customers who feel treated unfairly. Some park goers can go multiple trips for half the price as others. That’s going to create some resentment and pouting. Not sure why some would defend Disney on this issue.

I don't recall defending them. This isn't a value judgement, in that I think they are right. It's just an expression of reality, in that this is what is.

I'm heading there this year for the first time since I've been a member. With the cost of park days being pretty much equal without a pass and I'll have a rental car now without the Magic Express I'm doing some exploring . Plus I don't have to let them know what day I'm coming.

If our kids were older I would. We drive as it is. If we have to buy a park hopper might go for a shorter one and do some extra beach days.

Could be a prime week for Disney to launch new sales after MLK Day. Saw some other folks predicting not until late spring after Tron previews. I’m hoping it’s the other way around and asap to be farther away from Tron opening. Other dates I see them avoiding are Presidents’ Day In Feb and spring breaks in March.

I totally agree. As DVC members we should have been an exception. I had three trips planned last year and a Disney cruise on the Wish with a park stay after. I spent more on 10 day tickets than the Incredi-pass. I’m not even saying that I’m entitled to a discount, I just want to be able to purchase an annual pass. I have a trip coming up at the end of the month and I’m not planning to buy day tickets again. If the Annual Pass doesn’t come out, I won’t go to the parks but I will give Universal a try.
YES! same boat here. So far we only have an Oct. 2023 trip booked, but want to get in another one during Flower/Garden. We are hoping APs will at least be offered for purchase, DVC discount or not, just want them offered. If not, park days will be a LOT less, and wont' plan a second trip. We bought enough points with the plan to go twice/year w APs, so not having those are totally changing how we approach Disney trips.

I agree with posters saying no new APs until after Tron previews. There are plenty of current passholders who will be trying for the limited number of AP preview slots. Disney won’t want to add any more.

I keep reading opinions that Disney won't reopen AP sales until after Tron previews, but why would Disney time a revenue/cash flow event around a ride preview? If there are limited spots for ride previews for Tron, then there will be disappointed guests regardless of how large the pool is. If looking at it from a guest satisfaction perspective, wouldn't the qualitative gains from restarting AP sales sooner far outweigh the likely relatively small number of disappointed AP holders that couldn't get into the Tron previews? Not all potential AP holders will be available during the preview period, or have interest in riding Tron. I just think Disney will restart sales when it makes financial and parks capacity sense, and not hold back if that timing occurs before Tron.

WDW continuing to sell pixie passes to FL residents seems more likely to cause Tron crowds, hope we're right.

I see Disney Land just opened up sales again for Magic Keys. Disney just twisting the knife now...

I know, I saw that as well...I even went to the WDW AP page just to see if they happened to turn on those at the same time! You never know lol!

I can't see why TRON has anything to do with it, except as it is driving attendance.

Out of state APs will come back once Disney can't easily fill the theme parks to the level they'd like with day-ticketed guests, and probably not before.

WDW reservation calendars for both tickets and passholders show all dates for all parks available besides MK for Tron on opening day 4/4.

DL reservation calendars have multiple days with no reservations are available for passholders. For park ticket reservations there's 1 days that CA is booked and 5 for DLP.

So it must not just be about capacity, because they're selling APs for DL, and clearly hit capacity there more often.

Well, we still haven't bought our tickets yet. Reservations are showing everything available for our May dates. Only May 4 Hollywood Studios is blacked out for AP reservations.

Is it that time to just buy the 10 day tickets? Feels like I'm playing in traffic waiting for new AP sales.

Had hoped they'd at least mention APs at the shareholders meeting, Premier passes came up and laughed off the call. Nothing about WDW APs.

I don’t think I could be a month out and not have my tickets and reservations for the parks. At this point, I would probably. While things show available right now, they could change and you get locked out of what you want on the days you want.

I'd buy my tickets now, to get my park days. If they DO happen top release APs beyween now and then, you can always upgrade once you get there.

May the 4th is full at studios for Star Wars day, May The Forth Be With You!

I can't imagine a world where the price of day tickets cannot be applied to the cost of an AP upgrade as long as all of the rules of the past are applied. Then again, a lot of things I would have never imagined have come to fruition of late so that being the case, all bets are off. I'm surprised this didn't come up early in the thread as (at least until now), this has always been an option.

I'm in the same boat. I'm hoping for APs for our May trip. My problem is that I don't want single park tickets because I'm going to Disney more than once this year. I'm holding out for an AP and I'm happy to make this a resort only trip since we'll be at Riviera.

People have pointed out that Disney Land did not allow upgrading tickets when they started selling Magic Keys again. No idea if that is applicable to WDW. But yeah, I'm going to take your guys' wisdom and just get the tickets and pray they let us upgrade if APs get announce. Basically gambling $2500 for a second round of tickets later this year, but at the same time don't want to screw up this current trip.
