For future resale purposes(if it happened), would i be better off buying smaller contracts? If we.move forward, I would need between 150 to 200 points per year.

Yes. Two contracts should be good enough. As a new buyer at least one contract needs to be 100 points.

Correct. For some reason I assumed OP was saying direct.
I think on certain resorts you might as well go direct if you are getting a very small contract.

No title insurance needed, points load instantly, often include last year’s points, UY matching, 6m 0% with Disney Visa, etc.

Of course, that only applies to current members.

Was leaning towards BLT if that matters and would pay in full.

Contracts under 50 are not the easiest to sell, due to closing costs. In terms of maximizing point price and desirability in resale contracts, I'd say 70 to 100 is optimal.
Really? It's anecdotal but I use dvcforless.com to favorite small contracts for some of the resorts I want (BLT/BCV/BRV) and with the exception of a few they all seem to get sold pretty quickly. My list is constantly churning over.

I notice the same. 50 points and it's gone almost immediately. Made a handful of offers last week and they all sold for asking price. IRMV

Yes the smaller point contracts sell faster and for more but if you are thinking you need 150-200 points I would just grab that if you can. It will be a lot easier to plan your trip and actually determine if you do like the product or not. If you have to sell you will still most likely spend less than if you had just rented the room through Disney.

People always say they wish they had bought more points when they first purchased...

150 points I wouldn’t say to split. 200 maybe if the price and contract is right . Remember if buying resale when buy a 50 point contract you are around $600 in closing costs w/o title insurance. That’s $12 per point. If you buy from Fidelity you add $250 which is $5 per point. Of course the closing costs and other fees are negotiable. I recently bought a 50 point at a price per point I wanted but I did not pay closing costs. Basically closing costs add a lot to the overall price so be sure to factor that in your calculations.
