So I've figured out April would be my best use year. If I were to purchase points through Disney at either AKL or BLT in 2009....would I start with 2009 points and then get another allotment (2010 points) on 4/1/10?

Trying to decide if financing some now would be around the same $$ I would spend on vacation lodging if I wait until I can pay cash 100%.

Thanks - there are so many things to consider with this purchase!

Yes, you should get the 2009 point. I just added on another 50 points to my BLT contract. I have a June Uy and added on after June 1st, and got the points.

Typically, that is the way it works. You get current UY points if you buy during a UY (unless, for some reason, they run out of points but from what my guide has told me, not an issue with BLT or AKV at this point).

We just bought in to DVC this winter and one of the reasons I did was so that I could take the over $2000 I was spending on my August reservation at the Contemporary room and apply it to my BLT purchase!

Good luck!

Thanks Sandi - I wish I had started thinking about this sooner. We have a 10 night stay (WL & AKL) at the end of this month. It would have been great to make that DVC instead and put the money toward the purchase. I haven't done the tour yet though so I want to see the places before I sign a contract.

Enjoy your trip!

That makes a lot of sense. We knew that BLT was for us since we love the CR and its proximity to MK. We thought about DVC for years, but when it came down to it, we knew we would miss being able to walk to/from MK.

When BLT came around, that was the clincher!!! We are leaving in 30 minutes for the airport for our first DVC stay and I can't wait!

Have a wonderful trip!!!

I figured it would cost us around $7,000.00 for our family vacation at WDW for us to get a two bedroom Savannah view during value season. There is no way we could affort that type of vacation without the DVC.
