Buy DxDP or TIW card?

My advice takes some work on your part:

Go to Allears and check out the menus. Price out a "typical" meals for each day of your stay for your party.

Add it all up.

Crunch all the numbers for the TiW card, and the Table Service Dining Plan of your choice.

Don't forget to subtract the cost of the TiW card itself.

You will see which one is the better value for your party.

I'm at WDW at least twice a year, sometimes three times. And every time I go, I sit and endlessly work the numbers regarding dining costs. Almost every single time, TiW works out better for us, and there isn't a lot of alcohol involved.
The DDP (doesn't matter which one) always costs us more in the end. The one thing a lot of people forget to add in is the tips for each meal with DDPs..they aren't included. And the way we eat, those tips run over $200 on each trip...at least. The TiW card has been wonderful. I look at it as paying for the tip and then saving me 2% on top of that. If I feel that 18% is too high a tip for what we received, service-wise, I just talk to the manager, explain my feelings, and get the amount adjusted. I usually tip at 20% so the automatic 18% is a savings for me.

You just have to be careful.....since that tip is automatically added, some people don't notice it and tip again since there is an empty spot to leave a tip on the bill!!!! I almost got caught once.

Okay, this may seem like a dumb question to some of you but I'm going to ask it anyways. I know DDP = Disney Dining Plan, but what does TIW and DxDP (or DxDDP) mean? I also know that WDW has these types of plans, but does DL?

TIW - Tables in Wonderland, a discount card you can buy if you have an AP or are a Florida resident. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/passholder-program/dining-discounts/

DxDDP - Deluxe Disney Dining Plan. http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/benefits/disney-dining-plan/

And at DL I think that you can get a Character Meal Dining meal plan. But I don't really know much about it.
