Buy DDE Card At Disney?

I need to buy a new DDE card (disney dining experience - gives you 20% meals). I just read that I can go to any parks guest relations and buy the card. Will I get the actual card or a temporary one? Has anyone done this?

Yup. Did it Monday on our way to the Plaza. It is a paper card like the MYW tickets but has the DDE splash design on the front. We bought it 4/7/08 and it is good through 5/7/09. Got it at the GR inside MK. Just show your AP and you're good to go. Cost was $60.

Brogan, are you sure it's only good through 5/7/09? I bought our new DDEs in Feb. and they are good though the end of March. Got the entire extra month just like those ordered by mail in the past.

Do they put the day of the month that it expires now? It seems like it only had the month it expired before. I would like to buy one on June 15th and was hoping that it would be valid until the end of July, 2009 when we will go again.

We just bought ours last Sunday (4/6) at DTD and the expiration says 5/31/09...

It was no problem in purchasing, other than having to go to one of the 4 parks or DTD to guest relations. It just took a few minutes.

We went Saturday and were misinformed. We were told you could not get it at the back door to Epcot so we didn't get it until Monday. We then bought it at the back door. On Saturday we drove to Downtown Disney to get it, but the rain was so torrential we didn't even get out of the car. We decided it wasn't worth getting drenched for. We went to dinner at the Flying Fish that evening and we could have saved about $12 if we had used it. I really hate when you are given misinformation. If you don't know something for sure, just say so.

We are Florida residents and I just showed my license and had no problem. Mine also expires 5/31/09.

DDE is available to FL residents and AP holders.

13 months plus in everyone's case (except Brogan who think she got just 13? ).

But the 6th is the earliest date I've ever seen posted. I wonder if that now happens if you purchase on the 1 or 2?

Of course, it doesn't matter for most people. Just buy it the first day you're there.

The official Disney website lists Tusker House Restaurant, Pizzafari, Flame Tree Barbeque, and Restaurantosaurus. But I believe Yak & Yeti has also been added to the list.

Yak and Yeti is owned by the same people as Rainforest (Landry's) so I doubt it's included.

Yes..well, 13.5 mos...I had to look at the card itself to double check--it definitely says 5/31/09. I know there is a little leeway that it goes to the end of the month when you purchase, and at some point, it goes out to the end of the following month....at least, that's our past experience.

In fact, we forgot to buy the card because last trip we used it, it had not expired even though our AP's did. We renewed AP's but not the DDE card since it was not necessary. This trip it was just not on our minds to renew since I figure in the back of my mind it should be simultaneous with our AP's...

We got ours on 4/5 at the Epcot back door, too. Stayed at our home, BWV, but ESPN did not honor it. We ate there twice and asked the waitstaff both times if they honored it but they said, "no". According to the list they should have honored it.

Does anybody know what is up with ESPN?

Ok, this is not good. This is a main reason I purchase it. We stay at BWV (our home as well) and DH ends up there every night watching games. If they do not honor it anymore, it is going to seriously decrease the value for me.
