Buy APs before we get there or wait?

So, we are pretty sure that we are going to go ahead and buy our APs for this trip (in 2 1/2 weeks! YAY!), but I am wondering if I should just go ahead and buy them online now or wait until we get there.... is there any advantage one way or another?

I was thinking it might be easier to do it now, so that we can spend a little less time at the ticket booths when we get there (since I could put all my info in now and take care of the payment) and I could upload our own pictures now from home instead of having to find a photopass photographer to do it there.....

Thoughts?

In the past when we were in this situation we bought tickets but not APs in advance. You can always apply the full face value of the ticket and parking to the purchase of an AP if you buy the AP on the same day of first use of the ticket.

The key is that you are "pretty sure" and not "100% sure". If there is any doubt, just buy the multi-day park-hopper ticket you were planning to purchase and then covert them to AP if when you get there you decide you really DO want an AP.

Unless I am mistaken, you will still need to go visit the AP center to get your actual pass so I don't know how much time you'll really save.

I'll admit that it has been a few years since I've done this as I've renewed my pass for the last few years and that process is really pretty easy.

It's probably the best in my opinion to buy the AP online. It's easy because of few reasons.

a. You can enter all your information online so when you get to the ticket booth it will save you ton of time since all they have to do is give you your actual pass.

b. You'll get a paper ticket that has barcode just like if you would buy any e-ticket and it's very convenient.

c. It really saves time!

There's no other difference. It's just it saves you time to do it online since you can enter your information yourself.

The only advantage I see in waiting is if you are staying offsite, then you could purchase parkhoppers, use your magic morning, and then upgrade to APs after. If you're staying onsite, then there is no advantage to waiting that I know of.

This is my advice as well.

If you are getting Deluxe APs the only advantages to waiting that I see is Magic Mornings and especially Block Out Days. You want to use your hoppers if there are any AP Block out days when you are planning to go, afterward upgrade to the AP.

...also consider any other perks you get with a travel agency package (Costco, AAA) like TTMM and pins with park hoppers. Then go into the park and upgrade at the end of your visit. It will be retroactive to the first day you used the tickets.

Buying them online is easy. Just make sure that when you actually get your APs, the CM puts the date of ENTRY on them, not the date you printed them out. This happened to us last year, and I didn't notice until later, and blew it off on our second trip with the APs, and now have to deal with it when we go back this time. Otherwise, you can renew online and it is all beautiful.:cloud9:

Does anyone know if I can upgrade from a parkhopper ticket to an AP and get on the monthly payment plan?

I've wonder too, but haven't heard of anyone doing this. On disneyland.com it says you have to pay in full when upgrading and AP to another AP, but nothing about tickets to AP.

Yes and it counts as your down payment. This is what we will likely do so we have a lower monthly payment.
