Buy a vehicle online?

Anyone bought a car/truck/van online before. We sent a request off today and should hear something around Monday. Anyone gone through with an online buy?

Yes. Although it sounds like I bought it online, I actually negotiated on line and went to the dealer to pick it up in person.

I sent a number of emails to dealers in an area of the country I heard were selling via the internet at substantial savings. (Check Edmund's Town Hall Forums for the prices others are paying for the model you are considering.) I simply said I was ready to purchase and would buy immediately from the dealer offering the lowest price. By the end of the day, I had my deal and saved about $3000 off what I could have bought it for locally. I drove out of state to pick it up. Easiest car purchase I've ever done.

forddirect.com, all I did was go to the dealer to pick it up and sign the paperwork....I had actually gone to the dealer on a Sunday when they were closed, to see the truck in person.

A good friend from work bought a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am on eBay a couple of months ago. Although he was sweating bullets throughout the entire transaction, everything went smoothly.

I don't personally know anyone who has gone the online route to purchase a new vehicle.
