Buy a cheap double stroller or rent?

Help me decide if I should buy a cheap double stroller or rent for 1 week. We will have a 1, 2, and also a 5 year old with low muscle tone that will need to take a turn. We are flying, so it would be nice to have it for the airport. I also want it to be easy fold and easy to get on and off buses.

I'd want the stroller for the airport for sure, I'd try to purchase one ahead of time from Craigslist or a kid's consignment store.

What do you use while at home if you don't have a double? I would definitely rent if you didn't have to deal with the airport, so that's a tough decision.
Are you traveling alone?

I have a graco ready to grow for home. But it is so huge, I don't think I can lug it and kids onto a bus. My husband is going with me, but we will split up at the parks with him taking older kids and leaving me with youngest 3. How heavy and bulky are the rentals?

We've rented a BabyJoggerCityMini GT. It is smaller than the CitySelect, but has air-filled bigger wheels which makes it much nicer ride and easier to push.

It's super easy to fold (pull up on handles on the seat and it collapses) light-ish, and certainly easier to wrangle than any Graco! If you really wanted to go lightweight, you could rent a BabyJoggerCityMini which has the smaller wheels.

why not a reclining double umbrella stroller? They are less than $100 and fold really small since they are umbrella. The reclining will be handy if the little ones need a nap.

I would definitely rent vs. bringing a cheap stroller. The sunshades and recline features on the Baby Jogger Cities (which are easy to find and rent) are SO much nicer then a cheap umbrella. It will be a ton easier to push as well.

I would rent a Cadillac of strollers, and grab a cheap umbroller stroller. Use the umbroller for the airport and if it is flat enough it could potentially hitchhike on the rental to the park.
Seems like a lot of effort, but having it and a bungee to attach to the stroller may save you bucks and a back ache from caring a fatigued child. Don't get a cheap two stroller, I rented for the children and even though it was a big stroller the kids were the ones to benefit. If you can and find a used double jogger on Craigslist that would be a good investment.

Not only for this trip but all your family outings.
