I just realized that I haven't seen any posts lately mentioning the new Butterbeer ice cream, so figured I should start one.

We found it on July 20th, our last day at the parks. It was at a little cart, right next to the butterbeer cart in front of The 3 Broomsticks. The CM's at the cart mentioned that it was brand new and their cart wasn't yet equipped with credit card machines, so cash only. If I remember correctly, it was $5.99 for a small cup (pre-packaged). It reminded me of butterscotch swirl, but definitely tasted like butterbeer.

Another option for those Butterbeer lovers...our family included!

Didn't find it or try it in Diagon Alley, so can't say if it's the same there, but more than likely is.

If it's the same thing we've gotten in Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlour in Diagon Alley (last two trips) it is fabulous!! I highly recommend it!

I am looking forward to trying it on my next visit, but I have read a lot of reviews where people are describing it as basically vanilla soft serve ice
cream.

I will decide for myself, but when I see it said over and over I start to think Hmmmmm. But vanilla ice cream is my favorite so it will be ok either way.

I have never been in the ice cream shop because everytime I have tried, it was way too crowded. But if you can buy it elsewhere, maybe that will work, but I do like a sugared cone.

I always get it in the ice cream shop. (Flortescues)
I time it when the line is short.

It's probably my favorite soft serve ice cream flavor there.
Mine is the clotted cream—yum! But I’ll be thrilled with most anything that a) has a shorter line and b)comes in a more manageable portion (sensitive teeth just can’t handle full scoops!).

basically vanilla soft serve ice cream.

It is but has butterscotch swirls throughout. Its good, worth a try IMO. If you get the prepackaged one in Hogsmeade, my guess is that its not as good because it would be hardened. IMO, its best when it comes out of the machine as more of a soft serve.

totally agree. wish they had a smaller portion though. it being soft is part of why its SOOOOO good!!

I didn't care for the butterbeer ice cream. Give me the lavender earl grey any day!

There was supposed to be a new hard packed ice cream hitting US Hollywood but I hadn’t read it was coming to Orlando yet for whatever reason. We had the the soft serve butterbear ice cream a couple years ago so the soft serve one is not new. Though this may be a new way they are packaging it. I’d be interested to know if USO gets the hard scooped variety though....

I just wanted to add that the ice cream is also available at the Hopping Pot. I've been there a few times, and there was never a long line. (I may have just been lucky though.)
