Butterbeer...Cold or Frozen?

Excuse my Harry Potter ignorance, but what is butter beer exactly?:confused3

Butterbeer is one of the main drinks featured in the Potter books. It's basically a frothy butterscotch drink with a foamy top. It is only alcholic to house elves so it's fine for children to consume.:) The other main drink is pumpkin juice. With the creation of the WWoHP came the first professional made versions of these drinks, although fans have created homemade versions for years.

Frozen hands down, and twice on Sunday (literally, I always have at least 2 a day when I'm there....this stuff is amazing!

I would try both if I were you and decide for yourself. For me, there is no comparison and the Frozen is my favorite. The cold was more to please my HP nerdiness but it didn't taste as good as I hoped.

We preferred frozen....but still shared one as it is sweet.......for some reason I seemed to get all the foam :rolleyes1

We tried both kinds many, many times...liked cold but LOVED frozen! With some extra topping...mmm.

Ahh now I'm craving one too...it was so nice getting some butterbeer at the Hog's Head and sitting out on their back patio and drinking it while looking at the castle :)

I prefer the cold because the foam on top seems to be more "foamy" whereas with the frozen drink, you really don't get the foam part as its all frozen. I know that makes no sense, but i prefer the cold one!

Both the frozen and the cold get the topping from the same dispenser, so they're exactly the same. They are really delicious, next time I get one I'll ask for extra topping if they allow it.

They will however NOT, not put topping on. It's against their rules to make a butterbeer without the topping. One of my daughters hates cream and anything that looks/tastes like cream. She asked for one without it and they said no, you have to take the topping out yourself.

Maybe it the foam just tastes different since it gets colder faster with the frozen one. Does anyone know why you can't put a straw in the regular butterbeer? It happened to us and it was a mess. If you put a straw in the regular cold butterbeer, the foam starts bubbling and expanding, whereas it doesn't happen in the frozen.

There is a chemical reaction between the liquid and the foam that keeps it foamy. That is why the frozen seems to be less foamy.

Frozen!

I had 5 in a day on my last trip.. I couldn't even have dinner afterwards!

Cheers!
