Butter Beer??????

Maybe lard means something different to that UK person. I tried the liquid and it is too sweet for my taste but many don't think it is "too" sweet. I'm going to try the ice cream version next and maybe hot when winter comes.

I didn't like the ice cream.. Doesn't taste like the drink.. To us it tasted more like vinellla ice cream..

i've had the ice cream version and and for my taste buds, the butterscotch flavor is what i recognize right away.

I make my own at home too. Found the recipe on a site that listed 5 different recipes. The one I make uses imitation rum extract, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cream soda, and some other things. It's quite good. I have a mug of it in the freezer right now. Of the recipes I've tried, it tastes most like the version at Universal than any of the others.

Lard means lard in the UK too........I think that certain poster may be hinting they don`t like it very much and are not impressed by it in any way shape or form.......of course I could be wrong.......:D

We liked the ice cream version a lot........I`m sure you`ll enjoy that :)

I really didn't like it because I'm not a huge sweet tooth. However you still have to get it just to say you've drank butterbeer :p

There's butterbeer ice cream now?! Sounds amazing. I've only had the cold drink (not frozen), and it is crazy sweet. I wasn't able to finish it (and trust me I love sweets ).

I like it and agree, vanilla cream soda with butterscotch is definitely the taste profile to me. My daughter tried the ice cream and said it was even sweeter than the drink, she liked it (she's 17) but couldn't finish it, it became too much for her. Usually our family of 4 gets 2 cups and shares it, so no one is overwhelmed.

No doubt. But it was a weird bit of hyperbole. Made me wonder if they were talking about butterbeer or had some misunderstanding.

Anyone else find that the frozen is the least sweet of the drinks? Hot is crazy-sweet (also so good), cold is sweet (and has an aftertaste to me), but frozen seems the least sweet. Which is why I like it. :) If only the brain freezes would stop...

i thought the frozen was sweeter than the regular or hot.
but, frozen is still my favorite.
maybe i should rephrase that and say the first few sips are the sweetest for the frozen for me.
after that, not as much.

i can change my mind after my next trip.
i'm blonde........:D

I personally love the frozen version and the ice cream. I don't care much for the cold and haven't tried the heated version.

I think that the frozen is the least sweet too. The stuff on top is really sweet but the drink itself not so much.

We love the cold version and the absolutely adored the ice cream. We tried the frozen on our first visit to Universal in 2012 and were not fans, so we haven't bothered to give it another go since. Still have to try the hot....maybe in October.

We haven't tried the hot yet.......hopefully in September.

We find the first few sips of frozen sweet, then it's ok......but loved the ice cream. Didn't like the regular very much.......not sure why though.

If you like sweet......try the pumpkin fizz!!! Now that is sweet!

I tried it cold right when it came out. It was really sweet but good! My friend couldn't get enough of it though!

I love the pumpkin fizz and didn't find that overly sweet but could only drink a few sips of the frozen before the sweetness got to me! Have never tried the regular, hot or ice-cream so August can't come soon enough for me!

For those that like the regular/cold Butterbeer, you should try this: Flying Cauldron Butterscotch Beer. It's not actually beer, just named that. To me and DB, it tastes exactly like what they serve in the parks. I've found it reliably at Total Wine, and less so at Walmart Neighborhood Market. You can order online, too.

And, if you are looking for an "adult" version, we've been adding some whipped cream flavored vodka. VERY good!

I also found it at Cracker Barrel. I, of course, had to buy it. I liked it, but wasn't impressed. To me, it tasted like a slightly watered down cream soda. Maybe I needed to add some whipped cream vodka! ;) Great suggestion!

16 days till I get my Butterbeer fix! :)
