Trying to book for first week of Dec 2008 for our family of five. Extremely slim pickings-only Ft Wilderness & Beach Club. We want a standard room at a monorail resort. I really can't believe it is all booked already. The DU TA is looking for me too, but I am hoping someone can telll me I am too early, not too late.

The first weekend in Dec. is when the WDW Christmas Parade in taped. It is a busy weekend. Maybe if you play around with your dates, you will find availability.

Did you try making the reservations online on the WDW site? I tried to do the same thing and it said it was booked but when i called disney directly they had availability. I feel the website is not always working properly and i wouldnt feel comfortable making the reservations online..but thats just me...

otherwise consider the beach club its a great hotel!!! we stayed this past may and LOVED IT!!! plan on staying there again may of 08 as well..i know its not a monorail hotel but the access to epcot is unbelievable mgm is a quick walk a/o boat ride...and the buses were always fast!!! and efficient...even after wishes at the MK when the bus lines are crazy with everyone emptying the park at once the lines for the yacht and beach club were the smallest and least hectic because they didnt share a bus line or buses with anyother hotel.

This has definitely got to be because of the fact that Disney has not released all of the rooms yet for December. The same thing happened last year when they released the 2007 rates. The GF was basically not available at all in December and then a couple of weeks later, it was wide open availability. I know that business is really up at WDW, but I don't think December 2008 is already almost booked up.

The information I'm getting matches what's been posted here. Not all rooms for the entire year have been 'released' yet. As such, availability will increase as those rooms are released.

I was once told that what happens is that with all the events going on (parade taping, conventions, pop warner, etc) that people come and stay for only a few nights thus leaving it hard to get one room for a whole week. Some people don't mind moving from room to room and hotel to hotel but we like to spend our time in the parks rather than packing, moving, and unpacking. Weird thing is the parks never seem crowded to us at that time of year.

I ran into tight availability yesterday morning, but just booked what I could and figured I'd keep my eyes open for announcements that more rooms had been released.

This is true of 2007 but the 2008 Pop Warner dates haven't even been posted yet, so I doubt very much that's a factor this far out.

I did take the Beach Club offer for now, but I am concerned about travel times. The monorail seems so quick. Thankyou LMO429 for the info on beach club.
Also, I forgot about the parade taping. I prefer to avoid that big crowd. Is that usually a few days?
