But The Food Though

Good suggestion to buy the ginger candy! Did you find it affected your taste buds while eating? I already bought ginger chews to prepare for my first cruise ever in a few months. My friend and I have loaded up on Bonine, Dramamine, Sea Bands and patches!
I have no idea if I am prone to sea sickness but I am preparing.
The ginger candy is pretty strong tasting, so I always take drink of water before eating and haven't noticed any problems with it affecting my taste buds. I get a brand called Tummy Drops that comes in fruit and ginger combinations so it's not just ginger. The tropical fruit ones are the ones I like the most. I can't do the patch because I have glaucoma. Pretty sure you shouldn't take Bonine and wear the patch, it should be one or the other. The patch can make some people dizzy, so it's a good idea to try one out for a few days a week or two before your cruise. My MIL couldn't wear them because they made her dizzy. Most people I know don't have issues. They also have green apples at Cabanas that are suppose to help for seasickness. I don't like green apples so I never tried it. Also if you want to get a few of the small seasickness bags like they have on planes, they have them in the public bathrooms by the sinks. I always get a few and carry one with me each day. I've never seen them anywhere else on the ship. I always thought they should put a few in the cabins, but they don't. Fresh air also helps if you start to feel ill. Most of the time you won't even feel any movement at all. The first night is always when I could feel something. When your cruise is over, you may feel like the ground is swaying at times. Keep using the Bonine or whatever you decide to use for a few days after your cruise and it will help it go away. Hope you have a wonderful cruise. We still have 131 days until our next one.

Which is less, and in no way represents "value taking a big hit". To each his own, as I said. You like having lots of different dishes at once, so it lost value for you. It lost no value for me, and I actually save a little.
With any cost cutting measure, there will be some who aren't negatively impacted.

If Disney were to add a "room cleaning surcharge" where if you opt out of housekeeping, you no longer have to pay the $4.50 room steward tip, but if you wanted the same level of service as before, you have to pay the tip plus another $30 per person per day (e.g., more or less the same cost differential you and I have with Palo), even if a few guests may be better off, most are not.

When we go the MDRs, I look a the tables around me and the people I'm sharing a table with and almost everyone gets the appetizers, soup/salad, entrees and desserts. At restaurants on land where everything is a la carte, it's the opposite--we usually just get an entree and maybe a salad, and it seems most diners do the same. The inclusive aspect is a big part of what makes cruises fun for a lot of people. Hope it doesn't become a trend. Otherwise we have future of looking forward to upcharges for steak in the MDRs, for "preferred seating" in the theaters, for rides on the aqua duck or rounds of mini golf.... some won't care, but the lack of nickel and diming is part of why I'm willing to pay the higher cost of Disney cruises in the first place.

I don't see it as nickel and diming. People who order lots of items at a nice restaurant like Palo for the $45 cover charge were gaming the system, and that is why DCL put a stop to it.

Gaming the system? The $45 cover charge is meant to reflect an improved experience over and above the meal that was part of the cruise fare. You can't look at the Palo price in isolation, it's really more like a $100 meal cost when you factor in that each guest at Palo has already paid for a 4 course meal in the MDRs, and Palo is extra on top of that.

You're not happy. Check. Moving on. I guess I won't see you when I go to Palo.
