Why do people buy into this???

My friend and I were having this discussion about an all natural product and she is convinced that just because its " All natural" it cant possibley have any side effects or perhaps pose a threat to her if its consumed with another medication. She doesnt see the need to talk with the doctor about taking an " all Natural" suplement in addition to what he has prescribed.

I finally told her after the last *insert best whine here* " but, its ALL NATURAL!!"

I said " So is a snake bite but you dont see people lining up to get one of those!!"

My sister is so gullible. She'll buy anything. My ex-sil too. What is it about natural that gets them.

I mean, like your example of the snake bite, poison ivy is natural too. I mean come on!

I never understood that one either. Ephedrine (found in many diet pills) is like legal speed. It is all natural, and it is now unable to be sold in my county.

If you think like that, Marijuana is nautral. Cocaine is from the coca plant, so its natural too...

alot of products claim to be natural but if you read they are not even natural it is just the color or the scent. and some natural drugs cannot be mixed certain RX drugs.

A lady on TV was talking about taking Ginko and Ginsing, and nothing on the labels stated that it was a "natural" blood thinner. She had a bleeding ulser and spend three weeks in intensive care, almost bleed to death...but it was "all natural" stuff!

Oh YES!!! I remember a few years ago, I was having a bout of bad health, not feeling well, etc. This man at work, who was fairly intelligent, came into my office handing me LOTS of herbs and told me about how they would make be better. I told him that frankly I was afraid of putting all that stuff in my body. He told me "it is natural, the body recognizes it as a natural subtance and KNOWS how to use it." I just rolled my eyes. The man is now dead because he refused to get medical treatment for colon cancer. I just have no tolerance for this kind of thinking. By the way, I'm not *against* using alternative medicine. I just know that, while it can work, it can be as lethal/harsh/harmful (or helpful) as any synthetic prescription drug on the market.

I work at an out patient surgery center and out interviewer has a list of "natural" products that must be stopped before surgery because of side effects that can occur when taking them. Many people don't realize how dangerous those products can be. Even vitamin E can be dangerous when having surgery because it can cause excessive bleeding.

I have been the manager of a Health food store here in Canada (I specified Canada because there are a lot of products that are not allowed to be sold here that are sold in the States) and we had many books that we were to look info up for people. We were never allowed to recommend something to people and we always suggested that they consult a professional if they were dealing with serious things, or had different drugs ect. We were always concerned about people taking things they shouldn't. It was very difficult sometimes because some people would get it into their heads that they should take something and they had problems that said they really shouldn't be taking it. Ephedra is something people should watch taking. You need to research things and know your own body. Everyone's body is different. At this point I am so allergic to drugs that my own Dr. helps me find alternatives to use.
