We are DVC members, and were unable to book a DVC resort for 11/7-12. (We wound up taking a FW Cabin.) We chose those dates because that's when we were able to use our frequent flyer miles. I was trying to figure why the airlines would have space, but the resorts would not, and here's what I came up with as a theory:
1. The period from the week after Labor Day to the week before Thanksgiving is traditionally one of the slowest at WDW. The fact that the airline had seats available for us to use our miles attests to that being the case again.
2. The true Disney fanatics (like most of us on this board

) know this, and tend to book vacations for those times to maximize their vacation experience. They also tend to stay onsite more often, especially during special events.
3. The Super Soap Weekend, the Epcot Food & Wine Festival and the Festival of the Masters at Downtown Disney are all during the period we'll be there; each has its own group of fans, and they have booked the WDW resorts to capacity.
That all being said, even if all the onsite resorts were full, and all the guests in those resorts were to go to the parks, they would not create much of a crowd without a lot of offsite visitors too, and from what I have heard, the offsite hotels/motels are not up to their normal capacity levels. So I think (hope) we'll have a good group of WDW fanatics, happily enjoying each other's company and the relatively uncrowded parks! We'll find out in 48 days!
