I'm planning to take DS to Disney for a long weekend trip Aug 26-29. I have never stayed onsite and have never planned a trip in Aug. or summertime for that matter. So I was wondering what the crowd levels are like at that time and is it still really hot then. Would I be better off waiting and going in Sept. We just returned from a trip in mid April and the crowds were really high and would rather schedule this trip when crowds are lower. I live in a beach town and around here the last week of Aug are unpredictable....sometimes not crowded due to people getting kids ready for back to school the next week or you get the people coming for that last weekend trip for the summer. I was kind of hoping that because its back to school time that (maybe) Disney wont be overly crowded.

We were there last year at the end of August and beginning of September and it wasn't crowded at all but we came not long after a hurricane and left after another one had gone through the area so I assume the emptiness was due to the hurricanes. The last day the parks were open before they closed the park for Hurricane Frances was a dream-day. We went to MK and there were no lines for anything! We went on every ride at least once and went on our favorite ones over and over again. So . . . I can't say if the end of August/beginning of September is always a good time to go but it worked out well for us. I felt sorry for the poor CMs though because I'm sure they were worried about their families and homes and they were at the parks getting ready for and then cleaning up after the hurricanes.

By the way, we visited Disneyland the last week of August several years ago and it was empty so maybe our experience at WDW wasn't a fluke. The only drawback is that you have such a great time with small crowds that it's an awful experience when you visit again with a full park.

Enjoy!

Hi Aimeeme,

It should be relatively uncrowded the weekend of August 26, but weekends are always more crowded than weekdays.

If you wait till after Labor Day, it will be even emptier.

I think with the Big Celebration and now with the free dining plan package it will be busier than other Augusts, but not busy enough to keep us out :)
