I am an AP holder. I am used to crowds. The busses have been really bad today. Not one wait has been less than 45 minutes. Is this a result of the new express buses? It's completely frustrating

It could be just bad timing. How many buses have you taken today?

Four. It could be. I am just not used to them veing like this and we have done every holiday at Disney before.

We waited almost 90 minutes for a bus from Coronado to AK last week. Missed a Safari FP and almost missed a Tusker res. Went to guest services at the AK entrance and they were awesome.

Anything over an hour wait and Disney will compensate you with at least FPs for your wasted time. Make sure you speak with a cast member at your resort and let them know of your disappointment.

This is why I always drive. Anytime we took the buses anywhere it was never less than a 20 min wait

Holiday crowds or Understaffed bus transport? Likely both!
But Disney knows the crowds so to me, sadly the new Disney way and it's frustrating And should be Unacceptable to guests ( speak up and voice ur angst to make changes happen) to wait more than 20 minutes for Any bus
UNless Disney puts buses On A Schedule... and why not
Except they d rather Charge another fee... aka expedited transport.
:(

Well I know 3 in this house alone that canceled AP's. I too think it's a way to boost Hoppers and APs.
We don't Hop anymore either
the Fla resident tix deal (44/day) ... lured me back in but no trip planned... yet lol

Yeah, it's definitely the holiday crowds kicking in now. Both times that we've been there at Christmas the crowds were pretty tolerable until the 21st or 22nd then it got really crazy. Not just the numbers of people but the mood. I got the impression that A LOT of people arrived around then that had long and stressful travel because there were short tempers and meltdowns galore.

Isn't this week the week where most school holidays kick in?

It's a result of the holidays

Buses should still come every 20 minutes or so. And, in the past we've been there just before Christmas when they were training drivers for the increased holiday schedule to accommodate the additional passengers. OP didn't really say if the buses were coming and they just had to wait or if it was just that long without any buses at all.

DW and I are both teachers. Our local schools are open through Friday, with early dismissal at 2 PM. Lots of kids have already been pulled for family vacations or other holiday travel. I know some of them were heading to WDW. The up-side for us is that we get the first week of January off so that's when we're going! 9 more days...

The cynic in me says it's on purpose so people will pay for the express bus services between the parks. In reality, it's probably just due to Christmas crowds.

No one can really know what happen but from personal experience this week driving around the WDW property I've seen:
numerous accidents
People cutting across 3 lanes to reach an exit
People going down to 15 mph to get a pic of the WDW arch. On a 45 mph road with plenty of CM trying to get to work
2 drivers taking the bus only lane near Disney Springs. Then getting confused because the traffic light is not the normal one for the buses (not red, yellow green) but a line, so they had no clue if it was stop or go, they stopped and 3 buses were coming behind them and started honking because it was a go light for them

We've been here since Monday and other than Monday afternoon when we arrived, have park hopped every day and the only time we had problems was at AKL yesterday around 11. We walked to HS from Dolphin and took a but to the lodge from there. They actually sent a little shuttle van because the only other couple in line had been waiting 18 min. when we got there. We walked around the lodge looking at the decorations and grabbed breakfast and were back at the bus stop around 11 or 11:30. We were heading back to HS. We watched 3 AK buses come in a row, back to back, there was one literally stopped right behind another one and 4 Disney Springs buses came and went, again two right in a row. One MK one came in and went and one Epcot. We waited about 45 min. before the HS one showed up and by that time the bus stop was jammed. That is the only problem we've had. We were going to take one to MK from HS around 9:30 last night but that stopped was longer than at least two buses would hold so we walked to BW and got one there. We thought about using the new PHs service but ended up no doing it because we only went park to park once, we were resort hopping in between parks so it wouldn't work.
