Hello All!

We are finally heading back to my happy place - May 2019! I have not been since 2009 so I know there are so many things I need to brush up on. I am looking at vacation packages and am eager to book but the resorts are giving me a pause. We are celebrating my oldest son turning 18 and graduating from high school! There are four of us:

Myself, DH, sons ages 17 and 12. We are at Disneyland every year but next year we will finally be going "home" !

We stayed at the Coronado back in 2009 and our room was near a buss stop which was a huge blessing after long days! My youngest son has something called Kohlers Disease which causes pain and fatigue in his feet after using them all day. We will have his walking boots if necessary but I am still going to try and cut back walking time in anyway shape or form while there! We want to try POP but am worried about buss stops? How many are there? Are they far from rooms? What would be the best building to shoot for? Are there any other values or even moderates that have better options? I am open to all advice tips!

Pop only has one bus stop. It is right up front. You can book the preferred category instead of standard and that will put you in the 50’s or 60’s section which are the closest buildings to the front.

Thank you for the reply!
One stop? Yikes!

We stayed there in February and the one stop was fine, that's how it is at the deluxe resorts also. When you get off you are right at main building with guest services, the gift shop and counter service. I stopped to refill our mugs on the way back or sometimes we got dinner when we got back before heading to our room.

Do a quick google for maps of Coronado and then for Pop. Pop is a much smaller resort, so one stop should not have a yikes factor. Coronado is a convention resort and very spread out - it NEEDS to have multiple bus stops. Even a "far" room at Pop is not that far from the bus stop. You can even book some non preferred categories in the 80s or 90s, and have an easy walk to the bus stop by cutting through the 90s parking lot.

If you can't get a preferred room request 90's. It's easier than the others. You just cut across the parking lot.

Well, one bus stop area, with cordoned off queues for each destination. There are actually six stops, one for each park, one for Disney Springs and one misc stop they use charter buses and stuff. The bus stops are laid out in a line along the front of the building.

Or 70s.

There's only one stop and it is in front of the lobby/food court building (my brain can't think of what the building is called atm :l ) I would either book a preferred room for close room to the building, do online check in and give your room preference, or fax disney and ask them for a close room.

For the mods, all the buildings of course have bus stops but some of the buildings aren't close to the food court, and if you plan on eating at the food court often, I'd book a preferred room. That's one thing I love about the values, they are pretty decent sized resorts that don't involve walking miles for food.

All your questions have been answered except one other difference. The bus stops at the moderate and deluxe resorts are covered. They are uncovered at the value resorts but there are actual line ques set up, at the moderate and deluxe resorts there are no actual ques,it's just sort of line up if you want or shove the person in front of you aside so you get on the bus 30 seconds earlier. I wouldn't pay for preferred at Pop, the 80s and 90s sections are just as close you just walk through the parking lot instead of the inside of the resort.

If walking is a challenge, the one thing to mention is that with the exception of Animal Kingdom, Pop buses are the very furthest away from the parks and Disney Springs. Those walks could be more challenging than the walk at Pop.

Oh wow, thanks everyone for all the replies! A queued stop does have me leaning towards POP! How do they control that? We are planning on rope dropping almost all the days we are there and some early sitdown breakfasts as well before park opening so I am hoping the morning will not be too bad. We also plan on coming back for afternoon rest each day we are there. I am trying to reign in my 'control of time' tendancy because I know we are at the mercy of others for transportation so planning and hearing others takes on the stops makes me feel better LOL Thank you all!

Having to walk far after parks is the killer.. so many decsions

I can see why you'd suggest 90's for a standard room. It does look fairly close...just a quick zip through the parking lot.
Although if they need to get to the main building for whatever reason...it can be a hike. For sure 60's is best if you have preferred. Close to main building AND buses. But if you have a standard room, then my suggestion is to ask for 70's. Its not far from the main building or buses (quick cut across the main building to get to the buses...easy peasy). If you haven't booked a preferred room, i'd strongly suggest you do IF you can.

Yes, thats one of the things i like about values...queued bus stops! At mods/deluxe its basically a free-for-all...which can be frustrating.

Tip for very early breakfast ADRs: Ask concierge what time the first bus comes, and let them know you need to go to so-and-so place for your ADR. That way they'll make sure a bus does in fact come. I was the only person on the bus for my very early Wave breakfast ADR, so instead of going to MK the driver drove me to Contemporary Resort personally! It was so nice. :)

THIS!!!! It is the one complaint I had with my stay at the Pop--the bus stops are the ones the farthest away at every park. They are quite a hike!

I found CSR to be one of the best resorts with regards to where they bus stops are at the parks. But I'm wondering, have you given any though to the Swan and Dolphin resorts? They are an easy boat ride away from both the Disney Studios and Epcot.

Also, would renting a scooter be a consideration?
