Business lunches

I agree that your DH needs to go to most of these lunches! When I worked in the corporate world, separate checks were the norm where I worked. Which is nice, because you can control the expense better! Since your DH has another lunch to eat back at work, maybe he could just have water and a 1/2 sandwich/soup or salad combo or some other lunch special, or just order an appetizer maybe? If they all throw in on the bill, that makes it a little pricier, but it's still gotta be done IMHO!

I save my receipts for all non-reimbursed business meals and itemize/deduct at the end of the year on my taxes.

This is not a deduction. You are not away for your job and you are not entertaining clients.


For now DH should just go to all. When he feels more settled in he can turn some down. He might actually like them and want to attend all.
