We're dining at California Grill for the first time in August and possibly going to MK afterwards. I'm wondering outloud for my hubby if a polo shirt, nice shorts and docksiders would be appropriate attire or does he need to wear khaki slacks???

bumping this because We are eating there our first night, myself DM34 well 35 that night, twin DS 13 and DD 15 what should the kids wear? we will be at the park all day so should I bbring a change of clothes for them?

Absolutely fine...nice shorts and docksiders are fine. They pretty much don't want pool attire. Although many people do get a little dressed up you certainly won't feel out of place with nice shorts, a comfy shirt and casual footwear, just no flip flops.

twinsmamma- My dds (10 & 12) will be with us and I'm planning on coming back to the room, showering and changing first. I told them I think they should wear a skirt or a sun dress and nice sandals.

jwfla422- I think if the majority are dressing up a bit more, hubby will want to also.

Now I'm thinking about packing a small bag with shorts for hubby and shoes for us girls to change into after dinner...

Dress shorts are quite acceptable at California Grill--you'll find LOtS of folks dressed that way, especially in August.

Thanks Uncleromulus! I needed to hear the majority of men will be wearing them in August, so hubby won't feel out of place.

Yup, dress shorts do count as business casual in Orlando... just like Bermuda! :)

We learned our 'lesson' last October with the 'business casual' dress code at the Yachtsman.
My poor husband wore his long dockers and shirt (sweating and sputtering and grumbling the entire walk in the humidity there) only to find folks in their cut off's, tanks, etc etc etc. From now on, he'll be wearing some nice docker shorts and shirt but not the long pants. I wish WDW would enforce the 'nicer clothes' in the nicer restaturants, but I'm sure it's impossible to do.
Lesson learned.

Unless things change radically, most people will be in t-shirts and shorts or jeans.
