Bush was right

I think that these tapes are just one item among tens of thousands that can shed light on Iraq's pre-2003 activities:

Rep. Pete Hoekstra, R-Mich., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, ... says there are more than 35,000 boxes of such tapes and documents that the U.S. government has not analyzed nor made public that should also be translated and studied on an urgent basis.

You're right, they don't get it.

But that aside, your "funnyness" has just about worn off.

Hmmm, I think I smell an America-Hating liberal. :confused3

Just kidding. I know that all liberals don't hate America. (Though it is a fact that all America-Haters are liberals.)

I think Charade is just a little grumpy this morning. Maybe they spilled their ginseng and green tea smoothie on the passenger seat of their new hybred BMW. And as any liberal can tell you, ginseng is almost impossible to get out of the PETA approved fake leather seat covers BMW is using nowadays.

Nah, it's because he realized today that he was old--he's getting ready to have his 30 year high school reunion! :teeth:

Why do people think reunions are good things? I'd rather pull all my fingernails out. I prefer to remember my good times with the memory of how people looked at the time. I don't want to see them old, wrinkled, and fat. And likewise, I certainly don't want to spoil anyone's memory of me! :scared:

Excellent post.

History will show that our President and our allies were wise not to trust Saddam.

Many countries "trusted" Saddam because he bribed them. Oil for food anyone?

It strikes me that if this topic is worthy of a good news post, there must be a shortage of decent good news.

I doubt that history will prove Bush was right on a majority scale, even though retrospect is a fine thing, numbing all wounds. He will sadly be remembered as they guy that invaded Iraq for al lie, for better or for worse.

[EDIT] Still, good news is good news.

You say it's good news, but you still call our President a liar. :sad2:

He and Tony Blair will be remembered as real men who took action against evil, instead of appeasement ("peace in our time" anyone?).

You said it Joe.

After we get finished taking care of the evil in Iraq, we are going to invade North Korea and Iran and take care of the evil there too. After that we’ll move into Libya and Syria and stamp out the evil in those rogue states. Then in quick succession we’ll send our troops to Nigeria, Zaire and Sudan just to show them we haven’t forgotten about their evil.

Next on the list is Saudi Arabia, but we’ll give their evil a pass because they sell us oil. Indonesia, however, doesn’t get a pass and we’ll be gunning for them after we eradicate the evil in Burma.

This is only a partial list though. Eventually we’ll move closer to home and take of the evil in Columbia, Venezuela, Cuba, Oregon and Canada. But that is a few years off yet.

The world must learn that we Americans will not tolerate evil anywhere on this planet. Wherever evil arises, it is our solemn duty as Americans to find it and exterminate it. To do anything less would be tantamount to surrender – an appeasement of evil. That’s why we must support Bush as he continues to borrow billions of dollars from the Chinese in order to fund our sacred mission against evil. Our grandchildren won’t mind the crushing debt we are gong to leave behind. They won’t mind because they will get to grow up in a world that has been sterilized of all its evil thanks to the far-sightedness of one George W. Bush.

Thank-You Mr. President. Your plan is working brilliantly. Now that the evil is almost eliminated in Iraq, I look forward to our invasion of Iran.

I like the Shrub's strategy: Due to his borrowing money for his harebrained wars the Dollar is so low that for us Germans vacationing in the USA is as cheap as going to Southern Europe or to Turkey ;) Keep on the good work, W.!!!

It appears you are suffering from a common delusion here; the issue over Iraq was not whether people liked Saddam or not - everyone hated Saddam.

The issues were:

• Reasons for war were known to be false and these reasons were given to the public to rile up support
• Iraqi problems were lesser than in other areas where military help would also have had an impact; now we cannot help these people more in need of us because...
• Our military is in recuperation. We're not defenceless, but we are in a far weaker position
• Post war plans were not made to a satisfactory grade - now we are teetering on the brink of civil war

And the crucial one:

• A lot of people have died. War is the last resort available, yet in this case it was stormed into is a disgraceful manner. We needed to actually plan, we needed to exhaust all political channels etc.

Basically, the disagreement was not over Saddam; rather the disagreement is over the political decisions made by Bush to lie to us and to treat war as a first line medication at a cost of lives and no possibly the stability of the region.

Try not to blame yourself with hatred towards people who don't agree with the minority.

Damn right he's a liar; the majority of the world have agreed to this.

Tony Blair has had to apologise over his stance in the war and is now leaving Governmant. Bush hasn't apologised and is not leaving Government.

And the evil bit is ridiculous - we placed our military in Iraq rather than in Darfur, the Congo, etc. Now we are powerless to help those poor people. And for what? A lie?

Pathetic.

You truly are a traitor to the people of your country. Hang your head in shame.

Sometimes sarcasm is not all that flattering of a characteristic. Especially if a serious (even semi-serious) discussion is attempted.

But it's nice of you to bring out the old "if we can't do it everywhere, why do it at all (or where you think we should have started first)" argument. I almost forgot about that one.

Just more insults from accross the pond.

Still waiting for the mighty UN to take action?? I'm sure the UN will send more peacekeepers to Dafur and Congo -- just tell the natives to hide their girls and women first.

Bush & Blair (and the unbribed) chose (after 12 years) to stop being patient with the brutal dictator Saddam and take action. :thumbsup2

Europe had kept their patience with Hitler ("peace in our time" said Neville) and millions died.

That comparison might carry some weight if Saddam had anything beyond bad breath to threaten people with .

Wow, that had nothing to do with anything. Congrats :thumbsup2

Are you insinuating that UN peace forces rape people? Or perhaps that US troops have better morals? Odd in the light of that detention/torture clinic in Cuba...

Are you also purporting that anyone against the war was bribed? Please support the notion with evidence, lit. that which is seen.

And the Hitler comparison is reaching to say the least. Hitler had the capacity to start a war and had been amassing large weapons. Saddam had neither.

Your actions in invading this country has cost more lives than Saddam was likely to have taken, promoted terrorism (leading to more attacks and more death) and misplaced the good that could have been done in more needy areas.

Too bad that Bush and Blair decided to bypass democracy in favour of a dictatorial regime - maybe next time we'll have a patriot in power, someone who cares enough about their country not to repeatedly lie about serious, heavy issues to the electorate.

Bribed? I suggest you go back and research the threats and bribes Bush engaged in to get his "Coalition of the Willing". He threatened both Mexicao, Canada and others with financial disaster.
In all due respect. Micronesia? :rotfl2:
