It's a discussion about a 5 second video clip of Bush giving a massage. See the title, Bush the Masseur? Don't read too much into it.

And why in the world would you assume that someone who finds the video upsetting are a fan of Clinton? Guess what I voted for Bush. If you ask me they're BOTH creeps.

Me read too much into it? I'm one of the ones saying it was no big deal.
And I'm willing to bet you're in the minority of bashers in this thread who actually voted for him. You've already mentioned that you voted for him and you think he's a creep. We got it.

I didn't watch the video link of this but several friends and I did just see a clip from the news.Honestly (this is coming from a bush hater) I think alot of you are seeing things that are not there.It really looked to me like Bush jokingly put his hands on Merkel and gave her a little GRRRRRR shake,she threw up her hands and laughed (kind of like ,"Oh don't choke me")and continued smiling as he walked away.
But then,maybe we we're just seeing things differently.JMO

I can't stand Bush. I don't think it's a shock, but I agree with you that this seems to me to be much ado about nothing

Every woman has probably had this experience, unwanted physical attention by some creep at a business function. I get the heebie jeebies just watching that clip. I cannot believe the president of my country just did that.

Changing the subject...thats what Bush is trying to do through the whole G8 summit. He probably loves all of the publicity of this video so we can stop worrying about the real issues in the world like 2 countries that want to send Nuclear Missiles our way.

No , It is about commenting about what is appropriate or not. I share smiles and kisses with a lot of people: at work , with aquaintances etc. I squezze shoulder without warning only to a very small minority of selected very close friends. I kiss some co-workers if I meet them on the street ( us french kiss alot ) , but would never considered appropriate to give a shoulder rub to them , unless they say that they are very tense

You know, this was obviously not a shoulder rub. It was a brief, very quick and friendly squeeze on her shoulders. They're friendly-- OBVIOUSLY. And, if you've seen other footage of them together, then you'd know this and you would stop making an issue out of something that is not an issue.

To me, this is a show of support, a friendly gesture, a "hey, how are you doing?" type thing. The issue here is that it's Bush, and that she raised her hands in surprise. And, a lot of you completely loathe Bush and use anything you possibly can to make him look as bad as you can so that you can slam him about yet another thing.

Being surprised is not an indication of her not being appreciative of the gesture.

It kinda bugs me because Bush does this stuff to women, and not men (kissing Margaret Spellings and Condoleeza Rice when he nominated them to their Secretary positions). Did he ever kiss Colin Powell? Besides all of that, I think it's inappropriate and unprofessional behavior.

A female co-worker seems to have this kind of trait that Bush exhibits. She seems to be able to interact with men only in a flirtatious kind of way. She gives one of my male co-workers neckrubs and stuff like that. It would bother me if one of DH's colleagues did that. I think it's unprofessional and inappropriate then, too. And we don't work in an environment that is nearly as formal as that of world leaders.

In her case and as with Bush, I don't think either one is actually flirting with anyone or making advances, but it seems some people just can't deal with the opposite sex in the same way they deal with the same sex. It's kind of irritating, that's all.

And if he WAS kissing the men, then what would you call him????

All of us deal with the opposite sex differently, whether we realize it or not.

I dislike that the President did this but a lot of that may be because I'm not a touchy-feely person. I would not want some old guy putting his hands on my shoulders no matter who he is.

I totally agree, To some this may appear as a massage, but to me it would have tickled, and I would NOT have liked it. With the expression on her face, it looked like she thought the same. You do not look surprised if it was a massage. Massages feel good and relaxing, They don't surprise you. This was not a massage to the lady, and to me it is totally inappropriate coming from anybody. You come up and tickle me like that, you get slapped---I do not care who it is coming from. Sorry, I just felt sorry for her when I saw that video. Some people do not like being touched, and especially from behind.
