Hi Guys

I know many of you stay onsite and dont really know/ worry about this but ill ask anyway:

From staying on Idrive, is there any cheap way to get to the Disney Parks. My hotel does a bus like twice a day apparently, but i dont want to be restricted to coming home time, and what if i wanted to goto DTD at night? they dont have buses chartered then.

So my question is is there any cheap ways to travel, i know the trolley thing on idrive doesnt go all the way there. And i heard someone say i could get a bus from seaworld, which we are close to, but not walking close. We are staying in sheraton studio city, a bit drab but hey ho.

Any ideas and or hints would be greatly appreciated, also maybe could you let me know price of a taxi if it has to come to that.

Many thanks, have a great day.

You can use the Lynx bus service. I'm pretty sure it has a bus stop around Seaworld Sheraton, and it will drop you off and pick you up at the Ticket and Transportation centre. I haven't done this for a couple of years so it may have changed, but I'm sure you can find out if you google Lynx bus service.

Hogswartdropout was correct. Depending on where on International you are, catch a bus explaining to the driver where you are going. My guess it will be the #42 bus. I could be wrong on that because I don't know where you will be catching it, but the drivers are quite accomodating. Near the sea world or convention center, you will need to transfer to a # 50. transfers are free. Ride costs about $1.50. The #50 will take you to the TTC. If you are going to MK, simply take the monorail or ferry to the MK. If you are going to Epcot, take a monorail to Epcot. For Mgm or AK you will need to catch a bus from the TTC. Schedules for each route are usually on the bus. If they are all gone, simply ask for one at the bus info booth at the TTC. Now the downside. Each bus trip will take you 20 or 25 minutes plus waiting time to transfer. Also, the bus from TTC to Seaworld stops running at 10:18 pm and the bus you transfer to to go back to your hotel could stop running earlier. Nontheless, it's good to have this info in case you want to go back to your hotel earlier than the regurly scheduled hotel shuttle.

Hi, thanks for all that, great information. I went to the lynx website as auggested but it said i needed to make a transfer at a place called Garland Avenue... now waiting for buses in the middle of orlando with bags and bags of disney merchandise screams tourist. How safe is this area. Im worried about getting robbed in this strange american city. Apart from this i started getting a bit worried about the time these buses take to get to places... perhapts a renta car would have been the best idea staying offsite...

I mean ill see how it is when im there, but i dont wanna get caught out and jacked while waiting for a bus in a dodgy place called Garland avenue... i mean in con air the film the cannibal was called garland green...

anyway maybe im being stupid, but i was really hoping for a bus to take me directly to MK, anyway i can get onto buses from the parks, or do these only goto disney hotels and such? It seems ill have to get the chartered bus there and then a cab home because making transfers in the middle of orlando worries me to much!

does anyone know cab prices?

Disney buses only go to Disney hotels, they do not leave the property. If you are considering taking a cab everyday, then you might as well rent a car. You will have tons of freedom and not have to worry about anything.

I'd rent a car. I'm assuming you are not American. We really aren't that bad. The rental company will give you directions to your hotel. And your hotel will give you directions to Disney World. Taking a bus would be a hassle. Not because of a danger but it's just a hassle. Having your freedom with a rental car would be best.

my solution... stay at a disney resort!!! saves you all the hassel!

people said that to me when i was wondering the same thing about the buses but not everybody can afford to do it.

we got the number 8 lynx OR the i-ride as far as seaoworld (you can just aske the driver to tell you where to get off to catch the lynx to disney, everyone does it). then we caught the 50 lynx to the TTC, and the same on the way back. it saves so much time and money, i hate sitting on the hotel buses for over an hour while they pick up everyone at the other hotels! good luck! :thumbsup2

I had to wait at these bus stops a lot on one of my trips. We had bags and bags of stuff too. The only problem is that you can end up waiting a long time for a Lynx bus. We also had trouble because you're basically waiting in a patch of grass. We got lots of bites from the ants in the grass.
I would however, say that we did feel safe while waiting for the buses to Disney. Only on one occasion we had a woman ask us for a dollar so she could get the bus too. But other than that, nothing happened.
