I've read very differing information on this. Are there buses that run to and from WDW resorts, esp the Poly and AKL, to the Boardwalk in the evening? If so what hours do they run and how often? I really appreciate all the help! thanks everyone!

No resort except *sometimesCSR* runs direct bus service to the BW at night. You can get there via DTD or any open theme park.

Disney Transportation was designed to efficiently get guests from thier resort to the theme park, and back. There are no Resort-to-Resort buses. In order to get from one resort to another, you must use a theme park as a transfer hub.

A side note... the Coronado -> Boardwalk route has been gone for about a year now.

If you take a bus to MGM/DISNEY studios you can walk (or take a boat) to Boardwalk. That'll only work if the studios are still open.

If the parks are closed when you want to travel to (or from) the Boardwalk, take the bus to Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island. You can transfer to the resort buses there. Buses run to and from DD until at least 1 AM (when PI closes). Allow 45 -60 minutes to make the trip via DD/PI.

If you are in a hurry, you can always take a cab. That will cost $10-$12, including tip. Cabs are plentiful at the BW.
