Hi everyone. I was just wondering if anyone could give me an idea as to how good the bus service is for OKW? How frequent is it? Does it get really crowded (other then at peak times such as park closing, when all the buses are jammed full)? I use a wheelchair for any sort of distances and, as I've not stayed at OKW before, just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't have too many problems with the buses (I can transfer into a regular seat, so it's just a matter of making sure my folded chair won't be in anyone's way too much).

Thanks guys! :thumbsup2

OKW buses run to each park at about 15 minute intervals in the morning (they say it's 20 minutes), and about 30 minute intervals after noon. It picks up again as it gets later in the day.

I have had opportunity to need the handicapped access to buses, and I found it to be EXCELLENT! I have never had issues there at all, and the bus drivers are fantastic.

We are DVC members at OKW and ride the buses often on our trips. We have not had any problems with the buses and the buses are usually not so full (at least when we ride) that many people are standing.
There are several bus stops at OKW and it is helpful to get onto the bus at one of the first bus stops, rather than the last. But, on many trips the closest bus stop for us has been the last one. Unless you are going at a peak time, the bus probably won't be entirely full even gettting on at the last stop.
If the wheelchair spots are not full, the driver will probably want you to board at the back door and to tie down your wheelchair so that it doesn't move around on the bus. People mention strollers aren't tied down, but strolllers are usually lighter and smaller than a folded wheelchair (although strollers I've seen recently are sometimes bigger than my DD's wheelchair).

Thanks guys, I just wanted to check things out in advance. I've not had problems with folding a chair up and hanging on to it before (with the brakes on, of course), I hope I've not been breaking any rules or endangering anyone by doing so.

Thanks again both of you for the information, and hi Sue !

I don't think they have any rules against it, just some drivers prefer to have all wheelchairs tied down if there is a space to do it.

Never had any major problems using the bus transportation, to me it's part of the Disney majic.

Ahh, I see! Thank you for clearing that one up Sue (I get easily confused, it's what comes of being a bear of very little brains), and thank you everyone for all the help and information, you've removed all my worries :goodvibes !
