Can you please tell me how it works with boarding buses are there designated wheelchair spaces.Or can they be used by normal buggys.Just in uk when been trying to board bus with ds and his wheelchair we often run into the problems that pushchairs are in the space and we can not board

The buses at WDW have seats which can be folded up to make a wheelchair space. They are left down as seats unless they are needed for someone with a mobility device to use. Buses have either a lift or a ramp at the rear door for guests boarding with wheelchairs or ECVs. Lifts and ramps are operated by the bus driver and the back door is normally used as entrance only by guests with mobility devices. The buses with lifts are the oldest and are being phased out.

Once you are on the bus, the driver will direct you where to park the wheelchair and will hook up all of the straps/belts to secure the wheelchair (or ECV) onto the bus for travel. It is important for you to know where the safe spots to attach tiedown straps on your own wheelchair. A safe spot is part of the frame of the wheelchair, not anything removable or clamped on (unless the clamped on item is a tiedown loop that is part of a ‘transportation option’ on your particular wheelchair).
BEcause there are so many variations in wheelchair design, CMs often do not know what is a removable part. We have occasionally had a driver try to hook the tiedowns to the armrests or push handles (canes) on DD’s wheelchair, which are not part of the frame. We have marked the safe tiedown spots on DD’s wheelchair with either bright colored ribbon or bright tape. Currently, she has lime green tape, which is a good option since it is bright and stands out from the frame.

There is more information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread about buses. You can find that thread near the top of this board or follow the link in my signature to get there.

Wheelchairs and ECV's board the bus before regular passengers, so they have priority over the strollers.

And strollers have to be empty and folded to board the bus, so you should not have an issue with a stroller being in a wheelchair spot. There may already be a wheelchair/ecv in the spot (spots are limited), so you may need to wait for the next bus.

thank you and yes I know where tie downs are on Ds wheelchair that he has atm . .Though thats a good idea to mark them with tape
In uk you go on bus with wheelchair it is not tied down at all.

at Disney buses only hold 2 or 3 wheelchairs/ECV per bus. as stated earlier, they are loaded first then rest of your party. if second stop and someone seated in that stop, tey have to move so wheelchair can be placed there, happened to me once. strollers do not count as wheelchair unless so marked but i think child would still have to be removed and stroller folded as it can not be straped down.

thank you .were pretty small group will be me , ds and dd who be 7 and 9 .Yes in uk theres often only one space and it is not enforceable if a buggy uses it instead .Though I will and do speak out when its obvious tahts its a baby not a child/toddler using its as a wheelchair

At WDW, because the driver boards the wheelchairs and ECVs, if someone is already there sitting in the seats, the driver will speak to them. But, the seat will only be put up to make a space if the bus driver has done it.

It is unclear as to if someone seated in those seats HAS to move. The signage says "should be offered to those with disabilities" and there have been reports on this very board of people who have refused to move (some perhaps because of their own disabilities as not all are visable).

They can be asked to move, but they can’t be forced to move. I did look it up once in the transportation laws that have to do with buses.
