We're going in May....I'll be in WDW for the week, dd and dh are joining me for the last 3 days in WDW. Then we drive to Tampa to visit my ds for the weekend. My question.....is Busch Gardens all about the 'thrill rides'? While we enjoy WDW's idea of thrill rides, we are not into those huge coaster drops and inversions. So....is it worth it to go and spend the day? I just don't want to spend the money to just wander around and look at the animals.

Sounds like you should skip BGT. Not much beyond the great coasters and the superior (to AK) animal attractions.

BG is actually about the animals and conservation. the rides have evolved around them. but the majority of the attractions are thrill rides, so I'd suggest not going as well.

They do have some water rides there that are pretty cool but they have several coasters! They have bumper cars, carnival games, an ice skating show and COASTERS! LOL.

I agree with the previous poster who said they have superior animal exhibits. They have a safari ride too. Oh and few other non coaster rides.

I'm sure the animal stuff is terrific...I've heard great things about them. I'm just not sure I want to spend over $150 to see them. Dh isn't a huge 'zoo' fan, and dd thinks they're 'okay'. Guess I'll be better off spending the day in WDW and then driving to Tampa late afternoon to spend the night and the next day with DS. It was an idea that has gone sadly 'bad'. Thanks for the info though...as usual the DIS is saving me money!!!

We go to BGT about once a month, I don't do the thrill rides at all, DH rarely does. We are never bored. There are milder rides and shows, but much of the park is animal exhibits.

Why don't you try Cypress Gardens, this park reopened last year and is wonderful and slow paced. About a 60 minute drive from WDW to it. They have a butterfly house, water ski show, wonderful topiraries(sp) a few rides. This was one of Florida's original tourist attractions, pre Mickey. Also have free concerts. They are celebrating 70 years.
