I know this is the SeaWorld board, but hoping for some info on Tampa and where to stay. We will be down in October and always slide over to BG for HoS - also because it's one of our favorite parks. We usually drive home late that night - we'll be staying at our timeshare in Orlando. This trip we'd like to book a night at the "beach" - close to Busch Gardens.

I have no idea where to start looking - any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

First off, I wouldn't call Busch Gardens all that close to the beach.
Clearwater Beach (which incidentally is a very nice beach) is probably the closest beach to Busch Gardens, and it's about a 30 mile / 45 minute drive. (Maybe longer depending on traffic.)

Some nice hotels on Clearwater Beach include a Hilton and a Hyatt, among others.

Near Busch Gardens is an Embassy Suites. A little further out on Fletcher near I-75 are things like Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn, Courtyard, and others.

If you like casinos, the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino isn't all that far from Busch Gardens.

When I have a 1-day gap between time share stays in Orlando, I usually go to Busch Gardens, and stay at one of the hotels near I-75 and Fletcher. It's then an easy drive back to Orlando from there.

I would highly recommend the Treasure Bay Hotel and Marina in St. Petersburg (St. Pete's beach). My son and I stayed there for a few nights while we went to BG. The hotel is VERY nice and has beach access. There is a road between the hotel and ocean, but there is a public access right there so there is nothing to block the view. :) We were able to get a balcony that looked right over the water. The rooms were nice and big and I felt it was an easy drive to BG everyday. Maybe about 30 minutes. There were some great places to eat as we walked up and down the beach. If we ever go back, this is a repeat hotel for sure!
