Hi,

I'm trying to find a hotel near Busch Gardens for a friend. I was hoping to find something nice, but not 5 star nice, for about $100. I've looked on hotels.com and other sites, but I know the area around BG can be shady and I don't knwo exactly where to look.

How far is it from downtown Tampa to the park? Or another nicer area where they might have to drive but will have more hotel options?

I know they're having dinner at Ruths Chris one night, so I'm assuming that is in Tampa - I'll go look that up now.

Thank you!

We stayed at a Comfort Suites near the Hard Rock Casino that was very nice and new. The drive to BG wasn't bad at all. The only negative was that there were very few restaurants near the hotel. We ate in Brandon one night. That area was nice and suburban, but it might be a little further to BG.

I had very hard time nice cheap hotels in Tampa too. I know we going this summer to BG and decide to stay in Orlando and drive to Tampa. Or buy tickets that include transporation to BG. They sell tickets like that to.

Finding good cheap hotels in Tampa is very difficult when compared to Orlando.Since I usually mix in Busch Gardens with the Orlando parks I rarely ever stay in Tampa and just drive to Orlando where I know all the hotels in the areas like the back of my hand.In the immediate Busch area there's an Embassy Suites on Fowler ave. like 2 minutes from the park that hotel always gets good reviews, but I'm sure the rooms in this hotel are over $100.Other hotels that I've gotten in the area are a Sleep Inn on Fletcher which is the next exit north of Fowler on I-75.There's also a hotel that used to be a Doubletree that when I stayed there was called the Tampa Grand Suites, pretty good place also like 2 minutes from the park.I've stayed once in a Best Western if I remember correctly that was close to the airport,it was OK.I know the area around the International Plaza mall is good and is right next to the airport which is about 15 minutes to the park.I know the Tampa area somewhat, not great but enough to get around and the one thing I know is that you could go from a great area to a bad one very quickly.

We stayed at a La Qunita for a cheap night before Busch Gardens, Very close I think we paid about $70. Very reasonable, clean, nice free breakfast and again very very close to the park. I think if was the one listed as USF. I would not want to spend a week there, but it was clean, close and cheap, just what we needed for that one night.
