Don't know if this has been posted or if this is even the right forum but I just saw on the Atlanta Journal Constitution website that a rider died after riding Gwazi (sp?), one of the BGT coasters. I hate to see that, but am thankful that they are actually taking the time to post about another theme park for once! My prayers go out to the family, I think that they are thinking it was a heart issue.

When are the Guest of the parks goning to learn to take the warning signs serious?????I know allott of park guest have no idea that they have problems health wise before it is too late,but the ones who do well..........
My prayers also go out to familys that have lost loved ones in the parks recently,my god how tragic to lose a loved one on vacation .

It was in our local paper yesterday. He had a prior heart condition. Very sad for this to happen once again at an amusement park.

Unfortunately, the types of death that occur on rides are usually do to "electrical" heart problems (the heart's natural pacemaker fails and the heart loses its rhythm), which most people don't realize they have. My Dh has had a heart attack, and he does just fine on Mission:Space. He has asked his cardiologist about his chances of having electrical problems with his heart, and has been told that the odds are very low. (Some people with previous heart attacks do have electrical problems with their hearts, so he is lucky in this regard.)

What is needed is for the parks to put AEDs (Automatic External Defibrilators) at all of their rides. They only cost about $1000.
