I am having the ceremony and then reception at the GF, what did everyone do for transportation? I talked to my planner and he said that most people have buses for about 8 hours, where they pick everyone up from their hotels, then take them from the wp to the gf and then home afterwards. We have alot of people who are staying off property and have never been to a wedding where they do this type of transportation. I just don't know if we have the budget to do the buses and am worried about this. any ideas?

I was originally thinking that I should assume responsiblity for transportation to the ceremony site, from the ceremony site to the reception site, and then from the reception back to resorts. :scared: After talking to many people (not my disney peeps though) I don't know if I'm going to worry about actually arranging transportation to the ceremony and after the reception. I think I'm just going to include bus, taxi and town car info. I'm going to only worry about getting people from the ceremony to the reception. However, I'm only having an escape wedding, so coordinating 20 people is a lot easier than a larger group.

I'd be really interested in hearing what everyone else has to say on this subject of transportation!

What have you done or what do you plan to do?

We had a motorcoach for our guests...and I'm glad we did. They really felt special and pampered with their own transportation and could completely relax...plus we had our own freakin' bus...thats cool.

We had the bus for 8 hours. Picked up guests at 2 hotels and take to ceremony. Then ceremony to reception. Then reception back to hotels (we also jumped on the bus back to our hotel). The bus left every hour from the reception to take the tired ones home. We had a dessert party later that night...guests had to use Disney buses for that since its easy to go from a Disney hotel to EPCOT.

For 8 hours, it was around $700.

Transportation is the biggest thorn in my side about our DFTW. We want a bus to pick people up and take them to the wedding, then take them back to their hotels after the reception. But Disney has a five-hour minimum for the charter buses, which means we can't just pay for the 2 hours we need before the ceremony and the 2 hours we need at the end. We have to pay for the bus the whole time, even though it's going to be idle for about 5 hours in the middle.

I really feel like this is a setup. Five hours is too short to cover an entire ceremony and reception, and too long to have the bus come twice - once at the beginning and once at the end. Grrrr...

We were given the option of what they call a "round trip" bus, which is cheaper but can only stop at two hotels. We have people staying at four different hotels, so it won't work for us. But it's something to keep in mind if you can swing it!

Aren't you allowed to use an outside vendor? That way you could pick up offsite guests also.

I'm hoping you can as virtually all of my guests will be staying in offsite villas!

LINZ XXX :cheer2:

They played that card with us also, where we didn't need it during the 5 hour reception, but we still had to pay for it to sit outside. It did leave every hour to go to the hotels, and a few people used it. I guess thats just how it works, we are still glad we went for it though...but still expensive.
