This may be old news to everyone else, but it was news to me, so I thought I'd share. Effective Sunday, Oct. 28, bus transportation is no longer available to Downtown Disney's WEST SIDE. That's according to the Disney bus drivers we spoke to while we were there.

It wasn't too bad getting _to_ Cirque du Soleil on Nov. 4th. We just took a cab from the Boardwalk. Getting from Cirque to the Marketplace afterwards, though, was a pain. It's not that far of a walk unless it's raining, but we got caught in a torrential downpour. Yikes!

Ah, well . . . such things are memories made of. Wish I were back there right now, slogging though a driving rain.

Are the buses still stopping at Pleasure Island? That stop is much closer to Cirque and the rest of the West Side than is the stop at the MarketPlace.

We took the bus from Boardwalk to Pleasure Island and back this week (Monday, Nov. 5, 2001).

The bus stopped at the Marketplace stop (near Rainforest Cafe) and the Pleasure Island stop (near Planet Hollywood and the AMC movie theaters). The Pleasure Island bus stop is near the point where Pleasure Island meets the West Side, so it's very convenient to the West Side.

I never understood why there was another stop for the West Side.

Neither did I, and we always used the PI stop. Except for showings of Cirque du Soleil, the PI stop is generally more convenient to the West Side than it's own bus stop. Also, sometimes a bus is full out of Pleasure Island, and skipped the West Side.

This sounds like a good move, making the bus routes flow a bit more efficiently (it took up to 4-5 minutes (in traffic) to make this stop, often to find no one waiting when the bus got there). I don't know how far it really is, but the walk from Cirque & Disneyquest to the PI buses seems comparable to the walk from Epcot's bus service to the entrance turnstiles.

The Westside bus stop was to handle future westward expansion of the west DD area. There is a lot of vacant land there.

The Westside bus stop has always looked like a lonely outpost to me, a place where guests might not feel secure.
