Bus to MK confusion

Hi. I know there is no direct bus to MK but I am trying to figure out if the bus to Wilderness Lodge would be a better option for us to make rope drop. I know about the boat to The Contempory and then walking but, as I posted in an earlier thread, my mom has trouble transferring from her wheelchair so I'm trying to make it easy on her. We will be in a full site so here is what I know and what I am confused on:

- take yellow bus to settlement
- transfer to WL bus
- transfer to MK bus? Or does the WL bus "turn into" a MK bus and continue on?

Thank you for helping me clear up my confusion!

This is what Disney shows, you may have to transfer to a different bus at Wilderness Lodge to get to MK

Disney Theme Park and Resort Destinations

Transportation to Disney Theme Parks departs approximately every 20 minutes.

To Magic Kingdom® Park: I I I Bus routes to Settlement Depot and transfer to Green Flag Boat at Marina or from A Settlement Depot transfer to a Wilderness Lodge bus and then at Wilderness Lodge transfer to a Magic Kingdom®Park Bus.

To Epcot®, Animal Kingdom® Theme Park
or Disney-MGM Studios: I I I Bus routes to A Settlement Depot and transfer to bus
to specific route.

To Downtown Disney® or Waterparks:I I I Bus to B Outpost Depot and trans- fer to bus to specific destination.

Thank you! I think the confusion came from them doing a trial last year of keeping the WL bus a MK bus but I guess it was only a trial. I will just need to figure out which will be easier on mom - transferring to the boat or changing buses three times. Thanks again!!

Given your situation, would it not be better to drive to the TTC parking lot and either take the ferry or monorail? I'm guessing that it would require two transfers (getting mom into the car then getting mom out of the car). I'm also guessing that the wheel chair could roll on/roll off the ferry or monorail.

If mom or you have a legitimate handicap hang tag or license plate decal, that might get you up closer to the TTC.

I'm just brainstorming here....

PS - plus I am guessing you will have a car at your campsite to start this journey.

For me it was easier to get on a boat when I had a scooter on my last trip. The scooter rider waits until enough people get on the boat so it is level with the dock then just roll on. They have a particular place for the scooters to park making it very quick. I didn't feel like I was inconveniencing anyone since the other riders did not have to wait for me to load first. Have fun on your trip!

Would it be easier for your mom if you rented her a ECV for your trip. The rental companies will deliver to the fort, here is a link to one of them.
Or maybe your DH can take all the kids on the small boat and make rope drop while you wait for the large boat with mom, saves the hassle of bus transfers and nothing beats a peaceful boat ride to the MK.

We were on the Yellow Bus loop so we just stayed on the bus at the Settlement, took it to WL, got off and then on the MK bus to the regular bus station for all buses then walked to the gates to enter for our Keys To The Kingdom tour before Rope Drop.

FWIW, the boats from FW to the Contemporary are not the same size. To the MK directly from FW it is easy to roll aboard in a scooter or wheelchair. I do not think it is possible to do so on the smaller boats that service the resort loop. You need to be able to step over the side.
I agree with the recommendation to drive to the TTC and take the monorail or ferry over.

No car, we have a class c motor home. It's great for traveling - not so great not having a vehicle. My mom hates the scooter so wheelchair it is. That is interesting that it may be the yellow line that continues on to WL. I had read that it was the orange. That would only mean one transfer. Can anyone confirm if this is still the case? I really appreciate all the suggestions! I really wish they would just run the MK boat earlier or have a direct bus for those that want to make rope drop!!

It was still YELLOW last month and should remain that way since the Orange route now includes the Cabins.

We always take to the boat to MK with a wheelchair. Its a bigger boat was just there last Christmas had no trouble rolling on or off. Was pretty quick to get to MK. If we was going to one of the resorts would go to mk and hop on monorail.
