How long is the bus ride to AK from AKL? Is it direct?

I'm trying to plan out a day at AK and I'd like to get there for the opening/awakening(?). The park opens that day at 8 am - think I can get over there early enough on the bus?

Thanks

I think all resort buses go directly to the respective parks they're going to. I've heard that the bus ride from AK to AKL is 5 minutes.

DITTO.

The real timing issue is... will the bus be waiting for you as you exit the hotel, or will you be waiting at the hotel for the bus to arrive?

That can add another 10-15 minutes to the trip.

Same is true going back to AKL.

The actual "drive-time" is the shortest of ANY scheduled resort-to-park bus trip on WDW property.

It will likely take you longer to walk to the front gate of AK from where the AKL bus lets you out (at the AK bus stop) than it does for the bus to drive from AKL to AK park.

Not necessarily.

AKL to AK definitely does.

POP to AK can stop at BB.

After eating at the Contemporary, we took a bus to MGM and it stopped at Poly & GF before going to MGM.

I believe that all buses to the AK stop at Blizzard Beach both coming and going.
The CR, Poly and GF always share buses. The same way the Epcot resorts share their buses. The Boardwalk shares with the Swan and Dolphin during peak seasons while the Beach and Yacht club share a bus. During the slower seasons and for DTD all five resorts share a bus.
From what I have read the resorts have to pay for bus service. This is why they do the sharing for the MK and Epcot resorts since they are close together.

I would be at the AKL bus stop at 7:20, you will want to enter early (about 7:45-7:50). When we were at AK in November for EMH we were allowed to enter at 7:45, then it's a short walk (~3 minutes) to the rope. The opening show was at the rope and started at about 7:55.

I am glad that I read this thread. On our upcoming trip I have AK scheduled and I have an ADR for Planet Hollywood. I was planning on taking bus to AKL and then bus to DTD. I did not know that the bus stop at BB. I guess what I'll do is leave AK right after the parade to make sure I'm allowing enough time. I wanted to also walk around AKL because I have never been there.

I just love this board because it really helps in the planning of the trip. :goodvibes

Hello, just got back from staying at the AKL. Had a blast. The buses do run every 15 minutes or so to all the parks. The buses run direct to each park listed on the front of each bus (either going or returning). They do not stop at any other hotels/locations. Which is great. Some of the other resorts do share their buses and make other stops along with route, but AKL does not.

The bus ride from the lodge to the AK park takes anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes. They will advise you it only takes 5 min. but depending on traffic or how many people are at the bus stop etc. AKL is the closest park to the lodge however.

We ate breakfast at "The Mara", got outside and walked to the bus route around 8:30 and got to the park with plenty of time to spare before the park opened.

Have a great day :wizard:
