Bus Stop Dilemma

There are 5 children(including DS) at DS's bus stop. 1 is his best friend(same age/class) who we have known since we moved in here. Another we have known since day 1 but he is 4 years older so we arent as close, but still friendly with the family. 1 is also the same age and in the same class as DS, but we are just really getting to know him and his Mom now that they are in school together. And the last is an older girl who I only know from the bus stop and from selling GS cookies.

So, my dilemma is that I will now be driving DS to school 2 days a week because of youngest DS having speech therapy there. Who do I offer to drive? With my kids, I can only fit 1 other kid in back and 1 in front if their parents dont mind that. I feel bad excluding some, but they all wont fit. One of the days I will have to at least take the best friend because I watch him in the mornings on that day anyway. So, do I offer to stick another kid in front? Who? And what about the other day?

I would not take any kids but your own. I mean if the bus is there for them, what's wrong with that. Having a son in speech therapy as well, I can tell you many times the time/day has been changed thru the school. Hopefully your district will be better in that regard. I also drive my 2 boys to/from school every day, but don't take the neighbor kids because if mine are sick then I'd still be responsible for the other kids. Both mine have been home sick most of the week. jmo.

I agree with disneyelaine, I wouldn't take any other than your own, and the one day you already are watching the best friend I would then take him that day. I know you are trying to be kind and help out, but it will only open a can of worms that will include hurt feelings, and a huge responsibility on you. Especially if your kids are out sick for the day, or running late, traffic conditions, etc. If one of the parents approaches you, then I might reconsider, but for now, I would just let it go.
