Hello All! We will be staying at POP for the first time in May. I have heard some nightmare stories about the buses for the value resorts. Does POP have it's own buses or do the buses stop at each of the all star resorts? Thanks for your help!!

They have their own, but I have still read one too many nightmare stories to try it. My two sisters are staying there and have before for our May trip but we could not bring ourselves to do it, so we are staying at the Swan. We had a bad experience at POR in 05 with buses and don't wish a repeat.

POP has its own buses. The longest that I had to wait for a bus to one of parks was about 15 minutes. The only down side is there is no shelter to stand under.

Hope that helps

We've never really had any issues with the bus service at Pop. The busses come frequently, so the wait is very minimal.

This is good to know. We will be there next week. I was just telling dh that I sent a room request to be near a pool and the bus stop.

We have stayed at POP many times and the bus service has been better than other resorts most of the time.:cool1:

We stayed at POP for the first time in June, we have stayed at mod/deluex in the past. We thought the bus situation at POP was just fine, we hardly ever had to wait for a bus perhaps 10 min or so in the morning.
The only mildly negative thing is that the POP bus stop is the farthest away at the parks so a bit of a walk at the end of the day, but on the other hand bus's came quickly and we did not have to wait long to get one back to the resort.
We waited longer at WL for bus's or boats. We'll be staying at POP in December and have no worries about the bus.

We have stayed at Pop in July and August and the bus service has been great. Our longest wait was at closing at MK on an EMH night. We waited about 35 minutes and they ran 2 or 3 busses at a time.

Never had any problems and I've stayed at Pop probably 4 times. In fact, it was one of the better bus services at any resort I have stayed at.

The Swan sometimes shares busses with the Dolphin, BC, YC, and BW. When I stayed at the BW, this bus service took forever. I ended up taking cabs whenever I went anywhere besides MGM or Epcot.

I just switched my reservation from All Star Movies over to Pop Century for the next trip. Why? Because I will have two solo days without a car (husband is on business) and I will need to take the buses. And the ones at Pop Century are the best ones for a value. Get in bus, ride to park, get off bus. Repeat coming back. This will be our fourth stay at Pop century and we've never had a problem with the buses.

I like the POP buses. I waited a lot longer at CSR last year. Plus, only one bus stop at the resort. You get on, you drive for 10 minutes to the park, you get off. Even if it is standing room only, it is a short drive to/from the parks. POP is pretty centrally located.

Thanks for all your responses. It makes me feel more comfortable about the buses.

I think bus service at POP is really hit and miss. (Well, with any resort, really.) We've had some bad experiences w/ Pop bus service..moreso than with any other resort we've stayed at. We've been on crammed busses, waited for long periods of time (well over an hour before) and waited in the rain as there is no shelter at the stop.

However, the last trip there was definately improvment, so hopefully they fixed what needed correcting. I think regardless of where you go you stand to have a bad experience or two, so I wouldn't worry too much.:)

don't mean to hijack this thread but this is very true! we just returned from the dolphin and the bus to ak was horrible! we waited for about 1/2 hour and it made stops at bwi, yc/bc and it was packed!

there may be alot of buses to pop but i bet they are packed! i saw buses to por that were so jammed with people i thought it was really not very safe. i really think disney needs to revamp the bus system, it has quite a few bugs.

We had a good experience with the busses at pop. They are the only pick up and stop plus its super close to epcot and studios so its quick.
The only downfall with it that we had was one night leaving epcot right after illuminations and they were running a line for Pop into a line for CBR! So everyone was going completly through the other line and getting to the front and realizing that it wasn't the right bus and having to then get in the pop line!! Luckily I remembered that that wasn't our stop number and pushed past the huge lines around CBR and we got to our pop stop without waiting in the other line.

the difference for the resort with the avg shortest wait for bus vs. the avg. wait for bus at the longest is 8 min. When you take all the factors into account there is no statistical difference between the resorts when it comes to bus transportation times. The WDW transportation system is the most efficient in the world. Imagine the logistics of moving 200,000 people to 30 distinct destinations that all wanna go at the same time... WDW does this in about a 1/2 when the parks are closing. The system is not perfect, but imagine back in the day, with the pervious version of monorail, everyone in MK having to take the monorail to get to buses and the parking lot. the wait would be 2 plus hours.

We were there for 2 weeks last October and had very few problems. The biggest problem were the kids crying on the bus at night when they were overtired! But the lines were usually 10-15 people deep, everyone usually got on the first bus that arrived. It's a short trip to Epcot and from there it was fun to take the monorail over to MK sometimes.:) But POP was a good bus stop. We were at Dixie Landings years ago and the buses were about the same as POP for availability, length of lines and wait time.:surfweb:

We stayed at POP a few years ago and the bus situation was horrible returning to the hotel from the parks. We were there between Christmas and New Year's - a very busy time. One night we stood in a line that was about an hour long at MK to return to the hotel.

This past year however, it was completely different. We were there again between Christmas and New Year's and we never waited for a bus at any park. The buses just kept rolling in to pick up guests. At the resort it seemed that there was always one waiting to depart to the parks. Of course, it could have been our timing, but last time when we approached the bus area at the parks the lines were packed and we would have to wait for 3 or 4 buses before getting on one. This past year we either stepped on a waiting bus or there were only a few people waiting for the next one. It was great. Each of our trips was about a week long so we had plenty of time to gauge if it had definitely improved or if we were experiencing a fluke day. I would say it has improved.
