O.K. all of you experienced DVCers....from BWV, what kind of transportation to you use to get to MK, AK, the water parks, other resorts (for Hoop Dee Doo and Whispering Canyon Cafe) and Downtown Disney. We'll have a rented car, so we could either use that or the Disney Transportation. We have 3 kids (8, 4, 21 months), so we don't travel lightly. In either case, what time do you leave to make sure you get to EE at MK? Thanks!

I always use the bus to MK - I don't want to park, get on the tram to catch the monorail or boat over to MK, then enter. I prefer to take the bus which drops you directly at MK. I am not sure what time you would catch it for EE - I have never done that. I drive to waterparks and Downtown Disney - the return service from DD seems to be bad every time I have used it. For other resorts, I also always drive because there are no direct buses from BW to the other resorts. For AK, I have done both - driven and parked, and taken the bus. The parking lot I dislike the most is the one at MK where there are so many changes before you can get to the park. Hope this helps some.

I have to agree with Candace. Driving to MK is a hassle because you park, take the tram to the TTC where you either get on a boat or monorail for the MK...a lot of schlepping!!! Take the bus...it drops you right at the MK entrance. To go between hotels, use your car. From DD, use you car...parking there can be a pain, but the bus takes forever!

We always have a car. We never drive to MK..same reasons as stated above. We take the Bus, faster and more convenient. We drive everywhere else.

Our last trip to BWV (our first actually), we valet parked when we arrived and never got our car again until we checked out 6 days later.
We had no problems at all with the bus service. We even took it to DD and back.
We didn't go to any other resorts so I cant say about that. I probably would have took my car if we did go to another resort.
I've heard some horror stories about the new BOD system but also heard that they are not using it now. I hope they either perfect it or scrap it. I was very happy with the old way.

As for taking the bus for ee at MK, the trip is only about 15 minutes to MK and thus if you leave (meaning get on the bus) at any time between 7 and 7:20, you will be fine. It is easier to take the bus to MK than to drive, park and then take monorail or boat. You, of course, can walk or take a boat to either MGM or Epcot. You can obviously also walk to the Epcot area resorts (S/D or YC/BC). Trips anywhere else (including to DD, AK, waterparks, other resorts) will be much quicker by car (particularly to another resort, it can mean getting there in 10 to 15 minutes by car and spending 1 1/2 hours or more waiting for and catching busses). For Hoop Dee Doo you drive to the FW front entrance and park and take its internal bus to Hoop Dee Doo.

I stay at OKW, so the benefit may not be the same. I drive to the Epcot parking lot and then monorail to the MK. I like this because Epcot is open later during the time of year we go, so we end up back there in the evening anyway. The best part is that we can monorail to a hotel for dinner and then continue monorailing to EPCOT. When EPCOT closes, our car is already there.

Bus to MK. Take the Swan bus back and walk over the bridge.

Walk to Epcot & MGM

Use the rental car for AK, DD and everything else.
