Bus from Epcot~Beach Club

Thanks everyone for your replys. They are coming from POP, you think if they caught the bus at 4 to HS and boated to Beach Club they would be there around 5pm?

Also looking at time. They have a long morning planned and want them to rest some, they are going out on a limb here and wanting to stay for MK EMH that night. This couple is killing me, hahaha. I can see it now when we get back from fall break they are gonna tell everyone at school, she killed us

I was there the same time. We sat on the boat from the BW to the YC for a while because of lightning. The boats will run in the rain, but not when you have lightning. One guest was very upset because she wanted to get to Hollywood Studios. The captain explained it was unsafe to pilot the boat in the storm. When the guest asked what other options she had he explained walking was the only other way. The guest got indignant and said it was thundering and ligning out and she was not walking in that because it was dangerous!!!!!! The captain said, exactly miss, that is why we are sitting here until I get the all clear. Safety is Disney's #1 priority. It was kind of funny and several guests on the boat giggled a little.

I can just imagine if those boats were out on the flat lake with lightening all around..yep, so much better than walking!!! Silly lady.

It would only cost about $10 to get a cab from POP to BC..that is what I would do. There should be a cab at POP, or they can call for one for the guests. So much easier than taking a bus to DHS and then boating to BC. But, if they decide not to use a cab, then leaving POP by 4 'should' get them to BC for a 5pm dinner. It could very well take longer though. Worst case scenario??? The bus to DHS is just leaving as they get to the POP bus stop...so a wait of up to 15+ mins. Then, 10 mins on the bus...give or take. Walk over to the boat dock...5 mins. If the boat is just pulling away, they will have a wait of 15+ mins again. When the boat does get there..5+ mins while boarding takes place..then 20 or so mins to YC/BC boat dock and the 5 min walk over to Cape May. So, just over an hour. But, worst case scenario most likely won't happen...but some part of it will happen, for sure. Always does if you have a schedule to keep...

I agree, a cab would be much easier. But I've got to ask, when you say this is an older couple, what do you consider older? Are they going to need a scooter or wheelchair? Something you might want to suggest. WDW is a big place and requires alot of walking. My DH and I walk everywhere. We stay at BW and BC ALOT and find the walk to and from DHS easy and enjoyable.

There are backup plans to use buses when the monorails or boats go down. Drivers are made aware of them in case they need to do them. They're given names that include a color. For instance, when the Epcot monorail is down, they run the Red Express out of #5, normally the EC to AK bus stop. I'm aware of the MK and Epcot monorail/boats backup plan, the HS to ECR plan, but not a Epcot to ECR backup plan. Could be that there is one, but it's so rare that they don't even bother to tell the drivers about it.

We had the same plans, only they were called Mousehouse (MK or EC to TTC to assist/replace rails,boats) Round the World which was the MK resorts plus MK and TTC, and the ECR DHS/EC plan. The round the World we generally used for really special events, like the night the MK resort and the express trains were shutdown for 2 hours for a special fireworks event.They had several fireworks manufacturers staying onsite and for 5 days, there was special perimeter fireworks that required 2 of the 3 monorail lines to shutdown.

I think, though it may have changed, the the ECR/EC plan at 1 point, was that the EC/DHS busses would run thru the EC resorts after going to DHS.They would come out of DHS, start at the Swan, come through all 5 resorts, then head to EC. They would add busses to the run, since it took somwhere around 45 minutes round trip. I know that the trainers, used to have portables radios, (before the originals were installed in the busses), and they usually came over to lend a hand, as it was good experience for trainees. On any given day wed have about 6 or 7 training busses available to use.

1 of the things I think may be a factor, is that the ECRs are so close walking wise, by the time a guest walks to the front gate, and busses gets everything set up, either the boats are up and running again, or they could be at the resort. So plan a is for them to walk. B if they are going to be down for an extended length of time,(most of the day(s)) is a bus, since they are considered moderate and deluxe resorts.

Good thought. I know that I have seen posters referring to anyone over 60 as being 'older'. Now, I am in that particular catagory..not by much, but I"m there all the same. And I have no issues at all keeping up with my much younger friends at WDW.

That's nothing. The one that burned me was, "My parents are getting on in years, I'm worried they won't be able to..." and it turns out the poster was in her twenties and her parents were in their - wait for it - late FORTIES!!!!!!!!!

At least. I want to say it was before the milenium.Maybe 98. There was a rumor about whoever won the "competition" was going to be the supplier for the milenium firewirks shows. I remember standing at the MK, where the newer load zones are now,on the south side,before they were there, with another lead, and feeling the concussion from the shells that were going off, in the middle of the lake.

I completely agree. I was mostly curious what the OP thought "older" was. My DH just turned 60 and I'm a few years behind him. Most of our friends and family can not keep up with us at all.

I have to say that the way the OP was describing the older couple, I'm thinking this couple is in their 80s!!!! I'm sure they are no where near "our" age.

My grandmother,about 2 years ago, in her late 70s used to give the rest of us a run for our money in the parks. There was no slowing her down. In her early 60s, in NY, she actually told the painter to get off the ladder on her 3 story house, climbed up and showed him how she wanted the house painted.
Today, shes still active, though she now uses and ECV at the parks due to heart valve issues.

I remember the captain also said we could be sitting there for 30 minutes - 2 hours and I decided that it was better for me to just walk back from the Yacht Club/Beach Club to the Boardwalk despite the rain, even though I knew I would get soaked. So I wasn't going to get upset at the fact that the boat couldn't go over to the Boardwalk, because it was my decision to get off when I knew that I could have stayed on the boat.

I hated to put that because I have seen what looked like an older person at Disney and they left us in there dust at opening. They are very mobile and both still work. They don't travel much and this is probably the biggest trip they have had ever and have only flown once in their lives. My parents are about the same and we took them several years ago and they were just as confused the day we left as when we checked in and they had us to keep them on track.

Thanks everybody. Thinking I will give them a choice of taxi or bus to HS and catch the boat. They are not too keen on spending any extra money. I just hope they love it as much as we all do.

I also remember that!!

However, the biggest fireworks "percussion" I ever remember hearing was the 1st year they did the current "holiday tag" to Illuminations. I was at the campground and had not been to any parks yet, and then all of a sudden this HUGE bang of fireworks that I felt all the way at the campground!! WOW!! When I saw it in person, OMG!! That was just incredible. They have scaled it back in years since. From what I understand they were breaking things with that original tag.

The longest fireworks I've ever seen was on Walt's actual 100th birthday. That was my first stay at the Fort!! There was a press event at Magic Kingdom that night and I heard the fireworks starting and hustled down to the beach. It just went on and on and on and on and on.
