Bus from DTD to MK?

Ok, so I just realized this last trip you can't get a bus from MK to DTD and that you have to go to a resort to get to DTD. But once you are at DTD, can you get a bus to MK? Or will you have to go back to a resort then get a bus to MK there? Seems like a huge pain!

There is no direct tranportation from DTD to any of the parks, this avoids people parking for free at DTD then going to the parks.

Back to a resort. I could be wrong, but my understanding is people were parking at DTD for free then taking the bus to the parks. This was their way of controlling that.

I'm trying to think if you can go to the TTC from DTD. Anyone else know?

Hmmm, I guess that makes sense, but stinks for people who are actually staying on property!

What about going from a park to DTD? Did they cancel those buses too? It seems that going that direction wouldn't affect parking.

Say for example, my itinerary calls for me to be at AK and then head to DTD for a late lunch at Planet Hollywood, then back to our resort for a pool break. Can I get from AK to DTD without making yet another stop in between? I'd like to spend as much time at AK as possible without having to leave ridiculously early to gallivant all over WDW trying to get to lunch.

We were at MK two weeks ago and there was not a bus directly from MK to DTD. They told me I had to go to one of the resorts to get on a bus there. I just didn't go...too much trouble! Not sure about AK, but I would assume they are all the same.

Nope, you can't.

The best way to get to DTD from a park is to take a bus to Saratoga Springs then walk.

The best way to get to a park from DTD is:

Bus to Contemporary, walk to MK

Bus to Beach Club, walk to Epcot

Bus to Boardwalk, walk to Studios

Walk to Saratoga Springs, bus to Animal Kingdom

Oh that is very good advice! Thank you!

If you are going from DTD to the MK yuo can always take the bus to the CR and then take the short walk to the MK. The olnly problem is, from what I read on these boards, is the DTD has some of the longest waits for buses.

Sure it would, it would affect parking. You haven't considered the people who drove to MK, who would then want to drive to DTD from there.

Well I was referring to the previous post mentioning that too many people were using the free parking at DTD and then going into the parks. I figured they could still have buses from the parks to DTD without it affecting those free parking seekers. Now that I think about it, I guess it wouldn't make much sense. It sure does screw things up for those of us staying onsite though and not driving or parking anywhere.

Absolutely. That's why many of us here tend be sticklers for all kinds of rules that WDW management doesn't tend to tightly enforce. Disney has a demonstrated history of changing the rules (to the detriment/inconvenience of most of us) in order to close loopholes that cost them money or efficiency. We don't want them to change their procedures in other places, either, so we advocate for following the rules.

I'm not pointing these comments at anyone in particular, it's just a general statement. Lyzziesmom, I am commiserating with you about how much it stinks that we are inconvenienced due to many others in the past who sought "the angles" to get away with something.

As someone who always stays at the Contemporary I can tell you from experience that the Downtown Disney bus from there, or from the other Magic Kingdom Resorts take forever. Because of that we have our own transportation when wanting to go to Downtown Disney.

I think other options from the Magic Kingdom to Downtown Disney could be to take the bus to Saratoga Springs and from there walk to Downtown Disney. The other thing you could take a bus to Port Orleans Riverside or Port Orleans French Quater and take the bus or boat from there that goes to Downtown Disney.

True. People contemplating this route need to know, however, that it will be a very slow way of getting from MK to DTD. Pleasant, pretty, relaxing, but slow. They can cut down on the time a little bit by going to POFQ rather than POR, but that'll only slice off maybe 5 minutes. The boat from POR (its origin) to DTD takes about 30 minutes, including a stop at POFQ along the way.

I only suggested taking the boat from there because I have seen others mention it on previous threads when this subject has been brought up. I personally have not taken a bus to POR or POFQ or the boat from there to DTD, so I had no idea where the boat starts off from. So I was just posting what I knew.

Actually, I had asked at MK about the easiest way to get to DTD and was told to hop on the Saratoga Springs bus since it makes a stop at DTD. Sure enough, after the second stop at Saratoga Springs the bus made a stop at DTD Marketplace. No walking! :)

Considering how close SSR is located to DTD I would think going threw them would be the best route.
