Bus From AKL To MK

My wife and Daughter have an 8:50am breakfast at the Castle with Cinderella.

We are staying at AKL...How long is the bus ride from AKL to MK, and about how long of a walk (in minutes from the bus drop off to the castle).

We are trying to figure out what time to leave.

We were just there at WDW and we had a character breakfast at 8am one morning in AK. We were told at the AKL desk that the buses start running each morning at 6:30am for character meals. We were also told that the buses would have "character meals or b-fast" up on the bus where they usually have the name of the resort or park. The desk suggested we give a 30 minute allowance of time. We chose to give 45 minutes. It turned out fine for us since a bus pulled up and I think was going to take anyone who was there! The bus didn't say character meal on it but he told us to hop on so we wouldn't miss our ADR.
Since your breakfast isn't until 8:50 am, you won't have to get up too early, but I would suggest being at a bus stop by 8am for sure.... 7:45am even if that makes you feel better! The walk from the bus stops at MK to the castle are at least a 10-15 minute walk depending on the child's ability to walk fast and the lines for checking bags... and depending on which resort ... some stops are further away than others! The parks all expect people for the breakfast meals, so they are used to people coming early and you won't have a problem getting in. Have a magical breakfast!

The only downside to staying at AKL is the long bus ride to MK. I should have timed it last time there, but it was VERY long. I would get down there as early as possible, especially if it's going to be crowded that day at MK. We found that you might wait 10-15 minutes just for the bus to show up, and then another 15-20 minute bus ride. That's your 30 minutes that the front desk suggested.

The bus drop off will put you at the enterance of the MK which will be quite crowded at that time waiting for the park to open. If you have a bag allow at least 5 minutes for bag check (that should be sufficient at the time of year you are going.) It will take another 5 mintes to get through the gate and if your daughter is small I would give 10 minutes to walk to the castle, stoping a minute for seeing it a little more if it is her first time. That being said I would see when the first bus is available from your hotel and take one that leaves by 8:00 if possible. If you take one at 8:30 you won't make it without a lot of running. AKL is about the furthest place from MK. I would check at checkin about the bus and see if they will have one going to Character breakfasts if they don't have one to the park that early. Plus I believe I have always had to check in a little early for character breakfasts.
