Hi Everyone!

Just a quick question. I was wondering who exactly was aloud to use the transportation system at disney. Are guests who are not staying at a disney resort aloud to use them?

Thank youuu :cool1:

You can use the monorail and I would think you would be ok with the bus system- they don't ask to see room keys or anything.

Disney transportation is for Disney Resort guests. However, as stated by the PP, they do not ask for any proof that you are staying on property.

Disney transportation is for ANY guest that has any kind of reason to be at their destination.

If you are at a park and have a park hopper and want to go to another park, then yes, you can park hop on a bus, boat, or monorail.

If you are at a park and want to go to a resort for a meal, shopping, or activity (EXCEPT) for the pool, then you can use a bus, boat, or monorail to get there.

However, you CANNOT park at a resort all day, then go hopping around, but you CAN park at a theme park lot all day and go hopping around. Just make sure the theme park that you do leave your car at is open late, cause it's difficult to get back to a theme park that is already closed.

There are a few times when non-resort guests may not be able to use the Disney transportation system. During exceedingly busy times of year, when the park may be closed to offsite guests (allowing only those staying onsite in) they may ask to see resort ID in order to use a bus or monorail or boat.

But, other than that, there are no restrictions. Anyone who is holding a park pass is entitled to use any of the WDW transportation options that are available.

But, as already noted, don't plan on parking at a resort (unless you pay to valet park) and then head off to a park for the day. That is not allowed. Self-parking is primarily for guests staying at the resort.

Thanks for correcting me!! :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for all the help!!! We are leaving very soon, and my boyfriend will be joining us for one day and we wanted to make sure he would be able to get to the park with us :cutie:

Actually, Diane, even that requirement has been officially abolished. At least for boats and buses, "Admission media is no longer required." On monorails, as you said, I think they still may at times restrict which line you can board strictly for crowd control.

Thanks....I wasn't all that positive about ID for when the parks closed. I was pretty sure about the monorail, at least the express line.

I just wanted to say during my stays between Christmas and New Years we were never asked to show our KTTW cards before getting on the Resort Monorail.

Now there was another time on Christmas Day when we were coming back from the store at the TTC to the Resort Monorail when a Cast Member yelled at us and said "where the hell do you think your going, the Magic Kingdom is closed." We said we were going back to the Contemporary and showed him our KTTW cards to prove we were staying there. Well he still said I don't care and said ask someone else. However we were able to get on by showing our KTTW cards to another Cast Member.

Might've been an office worker. At the busiest times of the year, they pluck them out of the back offices and drop them into front-line roles -- mostly crowd-control -- with minimal training.
