Does anyone else use this term? I have no idea where I heard it from originally but today the temperatures are decent and at least for right now, just a little light rain. I decided to open all the windows, turn on the fan to the HVAC and burp my house. When I told my mom this she had no idea what I was talking about :confused3. If you aren't familiar, it's essentially just opening up your house that's been sealed up all winter (opening windows, opening doors with screens, etc).

Who does this to their house? Do you call it burping?

I've never opened every window in the house and have never heard that term. The most windows we've ever had opened at once were 4. Two upstairs and two downstairs.

The inside of our house would be covered with yellow pollen if we opened all the windows up at once. My poor SUV has already started getting pollen on it. Allergy season is starting for us already.

i only open the windows when i first turn my furnace on in the fall.
and then, it is only for a 10 minute period.
gets out that stong odor.

never heard the word burping the house before.

never heard that term

we have windows open a lot during winter since it can be nice here
We're about past the windows open season and about ready to turn the AC on

Never heard of that term before. We air the house out when it reaches over 60 and full sunshine. It's still too cold for my liking to fully air out. We have plastic on some of the upper windows yet.

I've never heard it called "burping your house" before now. I do love to open the windows on that first semi-warm spring day though! We have plastic covering several of our windows, and it's always nice to yank that off and open them up and let that wonderful spring-fresh air inside. :) Usually can't do it until April though so I have awhile to wait yet. :(

I haven't heard it being called burping but I do air my house out the first of the year. Actually every once in a while in the winter I will open a couple of windows for a little while to air it out. The bedroom windows are opened for a while every night during the winter so that takes care of that.

That's usually us too..mid April..but we had near 70 3 days this past week..so the plastic came off and the windows were opened. Never heard the term burping for it though..I call it airing it out!
