Since Ive graduated my job allows me the income and time to afford a dis vacation once a year. We have been going the last 5 years. I now have two sons one 6mo the other almost 3 years. We have freinds that go almost 3 times a year and there kids are a littel older, 5 and 6. They have been going for 3 years now and my freind said to me he is thinking about toning it down this year becuase his 6 year old said he was bored of the DIS. :scared: I would hope my children will luv disney as much as me and my wife do and not get spoiled. So we thought about toning it down a bit as well. I for one am not burned out but we have changed our plan of attack the last several years staying at the YC or BC and only going to the parks for a half a day and enjoying the pool and resort the other half. To us the resorts are just as much of a detination as the parks. I was just wandering if any of you Dis maniacs get burnt out or your children get burned out or even spoiled. I remember going in college with an old flame and her uncle paid for everything and we stayed at the BC. His little girl who was like 9 had to have every expensive peice of clothing available or she wasnt having a good time. She truly thought she was THE PRINCESS. Never the less, I could go without my yearly fix which isnt enough so we are going in the fall for the first time this year so our 6mo will be one by then.

We used to have APs and I got pretty burned out because we were going so often. For me, twice a year (one long trip and one quickie) is perfect.

I think that absence does make the heart grow fonder and if you feel burned out increase the distance between trips again. The love will return!

About being spoiled...my DS compares everywhere we go to Disney and as a result doesn't like most amusement parks. If that's spoiled, that's ok in my book!

I can't say that I'm burned out, but since I live 10-15 minutes from the resort, I take breaks. I may go once a week for a while and then not go at all for a while. I think it's been a month and a half since I've set foot in a Disney park.

Maybe you could try and do things you don't normally do? Maybe get a segway tour, mini golf, water parks, Cirque, train tour, AK behind the scenes tour, etc? There are many options. If cost is an issue, you may try cutting the trip a day or two short and use that money for those activities.

It'd be a slightly shorter trip but with new fun things to experience.

For us, once a year to hit WDW is good enough. There are other places to travel besides WDW and it's good for our DD to know that. By going to WDW only once a year it builds up anticipation for the next. I already spazz out when planning one Disney vacation...I can't possibly plan three in a year, but I am NOT burned out by far.

So we do Disney and another destination in one year. It works for us. No spoilage either.

This subject has been on my mind as well. We live pretty close (close enough for frequent day trips) and have Annual Passes. Burn out is certainly going to be an issue with my hubby, I'm sure by the time spring gets here he's going to be done for awhile, but I could work there and not get burn out.

I don't know which way my DD10 is going to go, but when the day comes that DH doesn't want to do it, either she'll go with me or I'll just go it alone. The AP's are new for us, haven't had them since DD was 2.5, so I plan on using them this year to explore every restaurant, snack cart, show, ride...every inch of WDW. I'm slightly obsessed, and won't go during peak times (spring break/easter, summer, etc) but off season I plan on going once or twice a month at least.

Once or twice a year at the most is enough for me to get my fix. I'm worried of the same thing, I don't want my kids to get burnt out on it. I doubt the DD ever will , but the oldest DS might. He's getting to the age where he says this is for kids, I'm like Yup!! Mama's a kid!!;) :)
I decided to improvise this year, one of the days we're going to drive up International drive and go to either Seaworld or Universal. If I mix it up a little then hopefully it won't get old!!:)

My 8 yr old twin dds are spoiled but we still go and they still love it. Sometimes I dream about going without them:cloud9: but they would be devistated I'm sure.

We don't stay in the parks all day anymore and we are more flexible in general with our plans. Next trip we will let them swim more and we will laze around at the resort more. We are adjusting but I don't see us skipping a year. WDW will always be our second home.

We did our tenth trip this past October. I can't exacty say I'm burnt out, but its time for a good long break KWIM. We are taking the kids to Washington DC this spring and the beach this summer. No plans set for WDW and that's really OK with me for now.

Burnt out on WDW? Are you crazy? I don't have kids so I can not empathize there, but for me 4-5 trips a year still isn't enough. So much so, that I plan on moving to the Orlando area within the next couple years. :thumbsup2

We get an annual pass every 3 to 4 years. Go that year 3 or 4 times. Take a couple years off and do Puerto Rico and other places. Then head back to disney world.

We go twice every year - once with the kids and once without. Even just going once every year, my teenage boys are more interested in hanging by the pool and community hall and DD than the parks - we have AP so they will go do some of the bigger rides, but trying to get them to a parade, show or fireworks is useless. My DD 11 still likes the parks, but not as much as I do - I'll never get bored of wandering the World. AP's are great for us, because then there's no pressure to have to do a park all day - if the boys want to catch a couple of rides and then head for the resort, that's fine. They still ask every year when we are going, so they do love visiting WDW and refuse to try anywhere else (we've been to Universal, and they rated the rollercoasters cool and everything else a yawn). I guess going year after year just lets us appreciate our favourite things, look forward to trying new things, and just enjoy being at the happiest place on earth no matter what we're doing!!

We had one trip where we felt burned out - a 12 day trip where we tried to spend too much time in the parks and were ready to go home by the time we left. This was several years ago and we have since modified the way we do WDW.

Now , when we do a WDW trip we have a rough overview of what is available to do, and what we would like. We make sure we do the "gotta-do's" when we have the chance, and wing it otherwise. Will pretty much sleep in unless we want to do Soarin' without a long wait and even then we don't use the early-entry day. We'll wait ti do that the next morning.

I say this because on our last Annual Pass we did 8 trips in 11 months. These trips ranged from several short weekend trips (leave friday afternoon, drive overnight, return sunday - 12 hour drive) to a 12 night stay in june where we wished we could extend it for another week. I would have done it if I thought my manager would have approved the extension, but I knew things were too busy back at work for that to have occurred. All in all we spent 38 nights on-site and did not regret a single moment of it. The shortest time between trips during this period - 1 week ! Spent 5 nights at WDW during Thankgiving week and returned the next weekend so we could see Holiday Illuminations. Well worth the trip !!

Burned out - NO ! I am already planning our trip for Christmas 2007 and have our projected dining reservations marked on the calendar. 338 days to GO !

We're pretty burnt out at this point. Last year we spent a week in Disneyland in August, a long weekend at WDW in October, and a week at WDW in December. Plus I snuck in a day at WDW in November at the tail end of a business trip.

We've got APs that expire Oct 07, and I'm not sure if we'll use them again before then. DS10 seems pretty sick of Disney, and I think even I might be a bit burnt out at this point. Depending on what finances and schedules look like, I think we might take this year off, and give Disney a chance to open a bunch more things before we visit again.

We started going to WDW when my son was 2 yrs old. He is now 8 yrs old and has been to Disney 28 times, he is just as excited about our upcoming trips this year as he always is. We don't do the main parks everyday because we enjoy the water parks too. We go to Disney in the heat of the summer because of the water parks and enjoy Disney Resort living.

My DH and I are AP holders. (My parents too.) We all try to go as often as possible. If we don't go at least every other month even for a weekend getaway we go through withdrawal. We often say we need a Disney "fix" to get through life.

BTW, I'm planning a big Dec 2007 trip too and thought I was the only one who has already planned out the ADR's and am just waiting for the call-in date to schedule them. Nice to know I'm not alone.

Maybe you could try and do things you don't normally do? Maybe get a segway tour, mini golf, water parks, Cirque, train tour, AK behind the scenes tour, etc? There are many options.

That's been our plan - do new things each time we go. And that's what's so great about WDW - there are always things to do, experience, and eat that we hadn't yet tried.

My DSis on the other hand has no need to seek out new things. Since they moved from VA to Tampa 3 years ago, they're at WDW every other weekend. She and her kids can't get enough (e.g.: almost every school project of the kids' has something to do with Disney).

We can only afford to go every other year. So we pack a lot into each trip, and each day of each trip. We do take an afternoon break, but otherwise it's up early, at the park at rope drop and staying at the park until it closes. At that pace, we're ready to come home by the time the vacation's over. And if we went 2 times/year or more and went at that pace each time, I could see where we'd all be burned out.

If I were lucky enough to go every few months, I don't think we'd feel the need to pack as much stuff in. We'd probably still be there early in the busy season, but maybe not in the less-crowded times. And we'd take longer afternoon pool breaks, and not be trying to get in as many attractions as we try to get in. It would be a nice problem to have! ;)

I grew-up going to WDW every year, but since we had family in Orlando we never had a "real" Disney vacation. We would go to only one or two parks a visit and never stayed on property. Then, when Universal Studios opened, it was just so much better then Disney. When I got married, my ex wanted so badly to go to WDW. That's when I got my first "real" WDW vacation, staying at the resort, doing all the parks, etc. It was great, although we still had to do Universal for me. Then, when DD turned 4, I decided she was old enough to spend the money on a WSW vacation. It has just been a blast watching her experience Disney. It totally renewed my love for Disney and we have been going every year since. I keep saying when she's/I am sick of Disney then we'll switch over the doing a Universal/Sea World/ Wet n' Wild package and stay at a Universal hotel, but we've yet to get sick of it.

I have been over 40 times and still not burnt out. We do our days different than others because we've been so often.

For us we consider Disney a great resort. We can do nothing or everything. Last year when Mark and I went alone for a long weekend we had been there 3 days and had not been on one ride! We walked, held hands, dined out, sat on the benches, talked and spent some time in the beautiful weather, and enjoyed the quiet time. Can you imagine quiet time in Disney in March!

For us it's a mindless vacation, to be together and alone - us and thousands of other people!
