Burning with Curiousity about DDP 2008

I'm glad I'm going to the bank today and bringing cash to tip. Do I still have to write a %, or just cash? I plan on a $30 meal to leave $5-6, just because it's easier.

You would write in "cash". See previous posts in this thread from buffalogal (page4) and just another guy (page5)

We leave in 18 days for WL. Third time with DDP, so I very much appreciate the "hot off the presses" reports. I always tip in cash, only occasionally signing for a tip if I need change or something.

Does not sound confusing to me - we're only 3 Adults, maybe that's why? I fully expected a few days or even weeks of confusion among waitstaff and it sounds like they are working it out.

I don't see a need to panic over the new tipping procedure for '08 DDP - though admittedly we all preferred Disney to pick up the tip! - certainly not a reason all by itself to rethink getting a dining plan.

Thanks again to those who have taken time to keep us updated!!!:grouphug:

Hearing reports of a lot of angry dinners with the new 2008 plan.

Ok... as promised LIVE FROM POP CENTURY.

I haven't had time to read through the posts, so if I tell you something someone else already has - sorry!

Now, this is our first time on the dining plan, so to me, there are tons of snack options. Doesn't look like your grocery items, large boxes of donuts,etc.. are included - but honestly I never would have expected them to be if I hadn't read it here before. To me, a snack is a SNACK....not breakfast for 3 days.
All the desserts, chips,etc... are snack credits. We had choc layer cake last night as a snack credit.

From what I can tell in the parks, the snack items seem to be pretty much the same as what people reported before, but I haven't looked closely.

I will write more on the actual dining plan in another post.

We arrived yesterday and ate at primetime yesterday and crystal palace today, we had no problem in getting our bill within a couple of minutes from asking.
The bill was confusing and we weren't sure what to write.
Today I tipped in cash at crystal palace, but it was not explained to me to write CASH on the tip line, we just left it blank.

we will continue to tip in cash, for the rest of the week, as it appears to be easier.

We think the dining plan is great:thumbsup2

Thank you, gogo. As I read pages and pages of complaints, I have been wondering if I think it will be a bit easier for us in a few weeks since I always tip in cash!

Thanks for sharing!!

OK, just back from our 1/6-1/11 trip. I will be writing a full TR later, but here is what pertains to the 08 DDP. If anyone has any questions, please ask!! We ate at 50's PT, CP, PSB Dinner, CR and Kona Cafe. At 50's & CR we ordered our entree/desserts at the same time. It was fine w/us since we have 2 little ones. All asked if we were on the DDP, then asked to see the card to see which plan we had. Everything was explained very well. At the end, we would get a check showing the bill amount and a suggested tip of either 18% or 20%. You could write in whatever $$ amount you wanted though on the Tip line. They then took your card & came back w/a few copies that needed signature. One was for using DDP credits, the other was for us to sign since we charged everything to the room. You then had your own copy showing the amt charged and how many entitlements you had remaining.

Snacks all had the DDP logo and were very easy to find. CS I don't think changed in how it worked.
