Burger King's Ghost Pepper Whopper

I am not used to really hot or spicy food (garlic doesn’t phase me). So I need to always try a little of someone else’s first before getting anything for myself. I can be easily overwhelmed!

And Italian Sodas were born in New Jersey, I think. Yet, Belgium destroyed over 2300 cans of Miller High Life because they had the phrase "the champagne of beers" and the word Champagne is a protected product of designated origin in Europe (France).

It's a fascinating culinary world.

Ahem? New Jersey? Them’s fightin’ words.

The syrup style was Italian, but mixing it in carbonated water was not. That came from the R. Torre & Company which started in the North Beach neighborhood of San Francisco. The company still makes their Torani brand syrups.

Just as a point of comparison, I found McDonald’s mambo sauce to have considerably more heat than BK’s ghost pepper fries.

Whoa, calm your tits! You really take that stuff seriously! My apologies, Italian sodas were born in that so-Italian enclave of San Francisco! (I actually don't know how many Italians San Fran has, I was just being a sarcastic stinker)

I wasn't being serious either, but I just don't use smileys to express sarcasm.

However, San Francisco has been well known over the years for prominent Italian-Americans and the North Beach neighborhood was their community. Joe and Dominic DiMaggio. Former Mayors Joseph Alioto and George Moscone. The founder of the Bank of Italy (became Bank of America after a merger) set shop in San Francisco.

I had no idea. Other than the basics, I don't know much about San Francisco having been there once and pledged never to go back. That's very interesting. Thanks for the information!

I think at Sanaa, you're not getting "real" Indian but what passes for Indian for American palates. Ironically, the best Indian I ever had (outside of India, of course) was in Poland as there is a huge expat community there. And yes, they can lay on the heat!!

Also kind of funny, I told this story to another well traveled friend of mine, and he said that the best Korean food he ever ate was in Dublin. GO figure.
My DD28 said the exact same thing--she visited a friend in Poland, back in February, and she liked the Indian restaurant so much, they ate there 3 times in the week she was visiting. It probably helped that she's a pescatarian, and Indian is one cuisine where non-meat-eaters aren't treated like an afterthought.

Quite a few actually, mostly from northern Italy. Cioppino is a dish invented and made famous there as was chicken tetrazzini.

They should probably destroy Miller High Life for calling itself beer. ;)
