Southern California Burbank to Universal Transportation?

We are planning on flying into Burbank and want to visit Universal for a day. A car rental plus parking is going to be about $75. Is there a better way? It will be three of us (DD 14 and DS 11). We are OK with public transportation if it's OK. I'm a bit leary of Uber and Lyft. Thanks!

So, just to be clear, from Burbank airport to Universal? There is a taxi stand/line at the Burbank Airport. Not sure how you feel about real taxis as opposed to Uber. It's between five and six miles, maybe 20 minutes. Where are you headed at the end of the day?

Yes from the airport to Unversal - then back again at the end of the day.
