My boys share a room, and until now have been in their toddler beds. My in laws have told us they would buy the boys a set for Xmas!!!! Their room is big enough for only a twin/twin set.

Has anyone ever ordered bunk beds off the internet? I will also shop in B&M stores, but was just wondering if anyone had any experiences with online companies?

TIA!

I don't think I'd buy a set off the internet unless I found a set a local store and then found the same set on the internet for less you just don't know what you're going to get. Some of the sets sold out there are just not that sturdy.

We do have bunk beds and one thing I do recommend is getting a set that has a removable ladder so that when friends come to visit you can put the ladder up on the top bunk and not have to worry about little ones getting up there and getting into trouble.

There are some nice inexpensive sets at Costco and BJs. We got our set at a local furniture store called Jordan's furniture and we love it. Nice and heavy doesn't move and separates into two regular beds if we ever have the room. It cost $800 plus the mattresses which were $98 ea at BJs.

We've got a very sturdy and nice "trundle bed" set for our boys. It's safer than bunk beds, takes up less room, and you can push trundle under when it's play time. (Plus they can't get hurt when falling off it.)

Got it from Boscov's Dept. Store.... it was fairly inexpensive.

Thanks, I was unsure about ordering online as well, but FIL had started looking on there. I plan on going to furniture stores this weekend to look and see, the problem I found at the 1 store I looked at was they have some sets, but I need a natural color (a light wood) and while they have books that SAY they have it, when they go to look up prices, they light wood has been discountinued!

Thanks!

I've ordered furniture from Overstock.com, and have been very pleased. Plus, they only charge $2.95 to ship, regardless of the size/weight of the item. I bought a bed there a few years ago. My local furniture store wanted almost $700 for it, and I bought it at Overstock.com for $220.

If you're looking for less expensive but sturdy furniture, check out your local Aldi store. A couple of weeks ago, they were selling solid pine bunk beds (natural color), and they come apart if you want to make 2 separate twin beds. I was at my local store today, and they had a few sets left, on clearance for only $129.00.

I bought a set at Sams Club 11 years ago and they are still going strong. It really is an item that I would want to give the old "rattle" test to, just to make sure that it is not a rickety and dangerous set (especially with boys!) Good luck!
