Bumps on neck

Okay so dh and I have gone to Disney world in late feb/early March the last two years. Both years we have gotten bumps on the back of our necks. Last year we tried Benadryl and had the hotel wash our pillow cases/sheets. Neither of those things helped. Last week we were there and both got bumps again. Has anyone else had this happen? We can’t figure out what it is.

Not sure - but late Feb/early March? Despite the cooler temps - are you using sunscreen? Back of the neck is a GREAT spot for "Sunlight rash" (it's not really HEAT rash).

Yep sounds exactly like the sun rash. I get it every trip to CA or FL. Never get it in OH.
We loaded up on sunscreen this trip so I don’t know if it could be that. It’s possible but my neck isn’t burnt or anything. I actually didn’t get sunburnt anywhere this time.

could be a reaction to the sunscreen. have a grandson who reacts to sunscreen and that is one of the places he breaks out at along with inside of elbow

I use the same sunscreen at home. I am sensitive with sunscreen but dh got the exact same bumps on his neck. We thought maybe it was the pillows but only our necks got bumps.

Are you wearing new matching shirts on vacation" If so, it could be the sizing in the shirts. Often times, it takes a few washes to get it out. Just a thought....

The Google says "Heat rashes are a prominent cause of a neck rash. This type of rash occurs from excessive perspiration during hot weather. Normally, perspiration evaporates on its own, but under harsh environmental conditions, perspiration can trap under the skin and cause the sweat glands to clog"

IT could be their detergent. My kids used to get covered in bumps at hotels due to skin sensitivity to their detergent. You could try taking your own pillowcases and see if that helps.
It’s so weird because our niece and her mom went this time and neither of them got bumps but we all had matching shirts and used the same sunscreen. We won’t be back to Disney for awhile but next time I think we might try our own pillow cases and see how it goes!

That might be what it is. Putting sunscreen on could’ve blocked our pores making it so the sweat was trapped.

we have used same sunscreen but only one grandson reacts even his brothers do not and I do have problems with detergents and have rashes from hotel bedding. I am only one in family who reacts to detergents

I think it’s so strange that dh and I both get the rash on our neck each time we stay at Disney. That’s the only place we’ve ever gotten this kind of rash. It must be their detergent. I’ll have to convince him to go back this year so we can test this theory lol

last place I had a problem was a grandson's MAW trip at Give Kids The World. I ended up at Walmart to buy detergent as all GKTW had was a Tide brand which Tide gives them and it is one that I react to

Are you using their scented shampoos and/or body wash?

This. Use only the highest quality sunscreen. Dd’s Dermatologist recommended Ombrelle spf 60. Never had a reaction again.

We use blue lizard sensitive. My DS and I break out from most other sunscreens.

I stated earlier that I use the exact same sunscreen at home and never break out. I have a really high spf sunscreen with no scent. It’s a baby’s sensitive kind.

We do always use their shampoo and body wash. It’s been a different kind every time. Last year we brought some home and used it but had no bumps at home so it must be something specific to Florida or Disney. I’m thinking it’s the pillow cases or a sun rash.

he even reacted to the one Dermatologist recommended and if I remember correctly that is the one he reacted to
