Bumped from Polynesian

Booked a standard view.
We’re leaving next weekend.
We are DVC and while I didn’t use points for this trip I tried to use it as leverage. No go.

So you were booked on the hotel side or on the DVC side with cash? I wonder if it is something to do with the roof repairs. Either way it’s a shame for you but I hope you manage to make the most of CR.

Booked cash on hotel side. She did say it was related to roof repairs.
Poly is our home resort. I asked for GF but she stated nothing was available. The other options were AK and BC. I like AK but wanted to be near MK since we’re only doing two park days. I’m in the minority but don’t care for BC/YC.
I know it’s not a huge deal but am just feeling a bit disappointed. I don’t love the contemporary.

Anyone else get a call? I had the Poly booked for three nights before a cruise and just found out we are getting bumped to CR.
Did you get a Tower room at CR or the Garden wing since you were bumped due to the roof repair rescheduling as a result of Hurricane Milton? Maybe only the Garden wing since you had a Standard room at the Poly and the only Standard rooms at the CR are in the Garden wing.

I asked if any compensation in the form of gift cards or meal credits would be offered and she said they weren’t authorized to offer that. I did get re-priced and the room they are putting us in is significantly cheaper.
Since its a straight swap I'd keep checking each day to see if GF opens, if it does you could try to change your reservation, long shot for sure but you never know...

OMG! We had an awful time getting our door open, but we did have a reservation. I was ready for this situation because I knew there was flooding and roof issues from the last hurricane, but it didn't happen. I was going to ask for another monorail resort DVC. I sure would call back and further discuss your situation. That sounds like a radical downgrade, though they are charging your less. Location is EVERYTHING! Good luck!

Contemporary is still a Monorail resort though.

It's marathon week, Disney can't offer what they don't have. I do agree it sucks they didn't offer OP some small amount of compensation as a goodwill gesture, but I suspect those days of Disney are behind us.

Duh! I actually saw signs in the median today for different points for the marathons!

I am with @Dug720 on the CR being a MK Monorail resort.

The Garden Wing is equal to the different Longhouses at the Poly and the Tower would be equivalent to the GCH. And It not a radical downgrade. You may not love or even like the Architectural design but it's location is actually equal or slightly more convenient vs the Poly. A short walk to MK, Easy transfer to Epcot Monorail at TTC, and Boat to WL and FW at 3 PM every day.

The Guest rooms are the same size and they were even built at the same off-site facility at exactly the same time. While I don't love the Incredibles theme it is more recent then the Moana themed rooms at the Poly.

Hey they even have construction next door just like the Poly. The Poly has the Island tower and the CR has the BLT remodel next door.

It’s definitely a radical downgrade, that’s why it costs so much less. There is no comparison in terms of atmosphere, food availability, and the beach for fireworks. No way is Poly to CR a lateral move.

@Disneylovingmomof2 will still be able to experience all of the atmosphere, food, and the beach for Fireworks without staying at the Poly next week.

@Disneylovingmomof2 was given a choice of AK, BC, or the CR. The CR is located on the MK Monorail loop and the guest wanted to be at the MK area. Also the Guest is a DVC owner at the Poly, this is not a once in a lifetime trip to stay at the Poly. Yes every reason to be disapointed with this turn of event. There are physical issues preventing guest rooms from being available at the Poly.

As @gottalovepluto indicated next weekend is going to be extremely busy due to it being a race weekend. Is it a perfect replacement for what @Disneylovingmomof2 booked. But is sure beats commuting from AK or the BC.

What do you suggest? GF is full, Poly is overbooked, OP didn’t want BC or AK. CR is their best option.

Sure I wish they had gotten some comp money or been offered a tower CR room as a comp but Disney isn’t in a great giving mood, not much OP can do.

Yep, garden wing
I know things happen in life but this would greatly disappoint us as well. This is one area where WDW doesn’t seem to weigh it properly. They are the one selling a premium product, and it is their responsibility to make sure guests get equivalent or greater when rooms are taken out unexpectedly.

They seem to think cash guests need to share their burden. I don’t agree. They are unable to deliver what you paid for and were relying on. The inconvenience and/or downgrade needs to compensated. Either put you in something equivalent or better, or issue partial credit.

The guest shouldn’t have to plead a case - management should be doing that already. I’d let them know there were much better discounts and rates* in those other rooms when you booked, but you chose to pay more for Poly because well… It’s Poly! It’s annoying to see them shrug things like this off, “Oopsie,” and just think anything is comparable.

*Assuming since it almost always is the case. I regularly see much deeper discounts at YC/BC, AKL and CR:GW than Poly.
